Beloved Star Trek legend William Shatner, 94, is taking “Live long and prosper” to heart. The actor is putting worried fans’ hearts at ease after false health rumors sparked concern across social media. The iconic actor quickly took to Instagram to share a reassuring message, proving that at 94, he’s still got the energy to set the record straight with his trademark wit and wisdom.

In his candid Instagram post, Shatner wrote: I over indulged. I thank you all for caring but I’m perfectly fine. I keep telling you all: don’t trust tabloids or AI! 😉”

He paired the caption with a photo of himself portraying Mark Twain, featuring the famous quote, “Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated” — words the great writer once shared when facing similar false reports of his own death.

Shatner’s agent, Henry Gold, told TMZ that the actor “experienced an issue with his blood sugar while at his home in Los Angeles late Wednesday afternoon and was checked out.” Despite the straightforward explanation, false information began to spread like wildfire.

Why fans are worried about Shatner

Although this incident seems to have been a false alarm, it still had fans wondering if the actor was really fine. Shatner has had a brush with a few health issues in recent years, including being diagnosed with Stage 4 melanoma, which he revealed in March 2024.

At the time of his diagnosis, Shatner was only given 5 months to live if his immunotherapy regimen was unsuccessful but luckily, the actor is now cancer free. So, with previous health issues in the minds of fans, it’s no wonder why there was a panic from the public.

Another moment of fear for Shatner fans was when the actor made comments after the release of his 2024 documentary, You Can Call Me Bill.

“I’ve turned down a lot of offers to do documentaries before,” Shatner said. “But I don’t have long to live. Whether I keel over as I’m speaking to you or 10 years from now, my time is limited, so that’s very much a factor. I’ve got grandchildren. This documentary is a way of reaching out after I die.”
