Willie and Korie Robertson learn from their kids and grandkids
Willie and Korie Robertson, like most parents, have spent their lives teaching their children, guiding them through every stage the best way they know how—and when the time came that their kids turned around and taught them a thing or two, it was a moment of welcome surprise. However, it’s this exciting new chapter with the tiniest members of their family where the lessons learned have meant the most.
Willie reflected on his grandchildren and the things they’ve taught him, saying, “We get so caught up in life and worried about everything and consumed with stuff, and then you watch them, and how they go about their life,” expressing the way in which they put things into perspective for him.
Korie also looked back on a recent memory where her granddaughter’s actions reminded her to stop and appreciate the little things in life.
“Our daughter Sadie’s little girls, Honey and Haven, whenever they see a beautiful sunset, they just yell, ‘Thank you, God!,’ and it’s the cutest thing,” Korie reflected fondly.
“Actually, on the Fourth of July, we had this big rainstorm come in just as our party was starting, so everyone’s inside. We look outside, the sky is so beautiful, and there’s a huge rainbow, so we run out and Honey yells out, ‘Thank you, God!,’ and starts doing cartwheels into the yard, and it was just this beautiful moment of, ‘Yes, thank you, God. Thank you for the sunset that you give us.’ It’s noticing the little things I think children do so beautifully and remind us to do.”
In a world that’s moving faster and faster by the day, these lessons by Willie and Korie’s kids and grandkids remind us to take a step back and soak up the beauty in the world around us.
