If the popularity of shows like Yellowstone have taught us anything, it’s that good-looking ranchers and farmers can draw in an audience. But before there was the Taylor Sheridan universe, a glimpse into the Western world was offered through Little House on the Prairie, where fans were able to see heartthrobs like Michael Landon and Dean Butler grace their screens.

While Little House was often known best for its wholesome storylines and sense of nostalgia, we all know that a few hunks in particular kept us tuning in week after week. Whether you enjoyed the series for the sense of family or to learn more about farming out west, there was certainly a part of you that also wanted to stare at your favorite Little House hunk. Learn more about the Western men that kept us watching year after year.

Even though Charles “Pa” Ingalls is meant to be seen as the wholesome father of his daughters, every fan saw him as the attractive Michael Landon we knew from Bonanza. The actor was often considered a heartthrob throughout the 1960s and 1970s, mostly for his charming looks and charismatic personality.

Western series were a good look for Landon, as he received his breakout role as the cocky, yet charming Little Joe, on Bonanza and continued it as Charles on Little House. Whether you can admit it or not, we all know that Landon was a major factor in your reason to watch the show.

We probably don’t even need to explain this one, but Dean Butler as Almanzo Wilder took our breaths away when he first moseyed onto our screens. Although today a 10-year age gap seems strange, we couldn’t help but fall in love with the pairing of Almanzo and Laura on Little House, and that likely had to do with Butler’s good looks.

Whether you watched Little House during its initial run from 1974-1983 or you’ve rewatched it since, there is no question that Dean Butler was attractive, making him one of our favorite Little House hunks.

Although he went on to be remembered as a producer on shows like Malcolm in the Middle, we will always remember Linwood Boomer for his role as Adam Kendall, the eventual husband of Mary Ingalls. Before Mary could see the potential in Adam and realize her love for him, we were obsessed with the character, mostly for his charismatic smile and light eyes.

But we also loved the character for the support and encouragement he offered his wife as she dealt with her impending blindness. We’ll never get over seeing Boomer as the Little House hunk.

Karl Swenson

Before he became the founder of Walnut Grove, Lars Hanson, on Little House, Karl Swenson was a major movie hunk. You may remember seeing him in The Spiral Road (1962) or as the voice of Merlin in The Sword in the Stone (1963), but we’ve loved this actor for years. The light-haired actor drew audiences in for years and his appearances on Little House were no different.
