If You Saved These Popular VHS Tapes, a LOT of Money Could Come Your Way!
In a world where DVDs, Blu-ray, and online streaming dominate, it might seem smart to dump all those VHS tapes. But don’t toss ’em yet! You could make a quick buck off of them.
The same way certain vinyl records became valuable, Mirror.co.uk reports that some classic VHS tapes can now be worth a pretty penny if they’re in good condition and are rare collectibles.
Obviously not every videotape is worth much, but definitely check out your old scary movies. According to Yahoo Finance, 1980s horror and exploitation films, low-budget movies that tapped into a major trend, make up the majority of Yale University’s Sterling Library’s 3,000-tape collection and could influence other collectors. Right now, an old copy of the movie, The Evil Dead, goes for about $280 on eBay!
So how do you tell which tapes are gems and which are duds? A British antiques site called LoveAntiques.com lists some of the most valuable titles, fetching as much as $2,150.
This surprising news about our beloved VHS tapes serves as a reminder: everything eventually comes back in style.
