As the iconic horror movie turns 65, take a look back at Hitchcock, Janet Leigh and Anthony Perkins
Psycho is undoubtedly one of the most enduring and influential horror movies of all time. The 1960 Alfred Hitchcock classic celebrates its 65th anniversary on June 16, and it remains potent as ever decades after it first hit the screen. The film, which stars Janet Leigh as Marion Crane, a woman on the run after stealing money from her boss, and Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates, the deceptively meek proprietor of the motel at which she stays, shocked audiences with its sexuality and violence, and the shower stabbing scene in which Marion meets her demise is eternally iconic.
In honor of Psycho’s anniversary, we’re taking a look behind the scenes to see how the Master of Suspense created a work that still haunts our nightmares.
