Follow the Yellow Brick Road with These Easy ‘Wicked’ Halloween Costumes
The wizard himself couldn’t have conjured cuter Halloween costumes than these from the world of ‘Wicked’
We are officially less than one month away from the highly anticipated Wicked movie and also less than a week from Halloween. In celebration, the two have been combined into one to offer up grand and green ways you can dress up as everyone’s favorite Ozians this spooky season. From Glinda to Elphaba and even the flying monkeys, these costumes are sure to make you “pop-u-lar.” Keep scrolling to find out how.
DIY Elphaba costume: The Wicked Witch of the West

Who doesn’t want to be everyone’s favorite “villain” this Halloween? We certainly do! However, painting your skin green might be a little extreme, but thankfully, we have some good alternatives. The first option would be a green cape, or there is always a green witch hat or even green shoes and gloves—you could, of course, always do all of the above. But no matter what you pick, we can guarantee they will go perfectly with your all-black outfit.
And if you want to go above and beyond on your Elphaba—or Wicked Witch of the West—costume, we recommend painting your nails black and carrying a broom and spellbook around. It’s sure to have everyone saying, “Something wicked this way comes.”
Dress up as Glinda: The Good Witch of Oz

Sadly, we can’t travel around in a big pink bubble this Halloween, but we can show you what shoes to wear and how to do your hair so you can dress up as Glinda the Good Witch. To do so, all you will need is a big and bold pink dress paired with a crown and a gigantic—and a little over-the-top—wand.
If dresses aren’t for you though, you can always wear a pink shirt and pants. As long as it’s pink, it’s perfect and practically guaranteed to make you “popular.”
For the hair, it’s pretty simple: curl it as tight as you can and toss it over both your shoulders, just like Glinda the Good.
Create a Dorothy Gale costume (with or without Toto)

Dorothy might only have a cameo in the Wicked musical, but that doesn’t mean you can’t dress up as her for Halloween. All you’ll need is a blue and white gingham dress, some red shoes and a basket. If you want to go all out, you can also put your hair in pigtails and bring your little dog, too, but it isn’t necessary. The one thing we ask, though, is that you leave your cyclone, house and bucket of water at home because bringing them would be a major buzzkill.
Transform into Fiyero or the Scarecrow

With Fiyero/The Scarecrow, there are two ways you can go. First, you can dress up as Fiyero, who is seen on stage in khaki pants, brown boots, a blue vest and a white button-down. But if you prefer to go more traditional, then go for Fiyero in the later parts of Act 2—when he becomes The Scarecrow.
To do that, you will need a straw hat, a plaid button down and some jeans. It’s super simple, but if you want to add a little extra magic, you can always draw on freckles or carry around a diploma—to prove you have a brain, of course!
You can also pair this costume up with Elphaba if you are looking for a couple’s costume since they (spoiler alert) end up together.
Shine as Boq or the Tin Man

Love silver? Then dress up as Boq—who later becomes the Tin Man—this spooky season. Doing so is simple: just wear as much silver as you can and maybe even tape a heart on your chest to add to the effect. You can also carry around an oil can if you want—just make sure you fill it with your drink of choice, not the black liquid the Tin Man drinks. We personally don’t think it would taste that good.
Dress your pet as a flying monkey

If you love dressing up your pets for Halloween, a quick and easy costume is the Wicked Witch of the West’s flying monkeys. Simply get a pair of wings, put them on, and hope they don’t fly away!
