Fleetwood Mac fans, we have some interesting news! In a recent social media post, Lindsey Buckingham’s landscaper revealed that both Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham might be interested in doing a reunion tour. Then, almost two months later, the iconic musicians fueled the reunion speculation by sharing matching cryptic social media posts, followed by a supposed billboard on Sunset Boulevard. This all comes after Buckingham’s claims that Nicks kicked him out of the band back in 2021. Below, we look at what exactly was said in that now-viral social media post, and why Buckingham felt like his ex-girlfriend wanted him gone in the first place. Read on for more.

What to know about a potential Fleetwood Mac reunion

On May 12, Michael Gambino—a landscaper who works with Buckingham—took to Facebook to share that “Lindsey Buckingham, lead singer/guitar player extraordinaire (solo and Fleetwood Mac), longtime client of Gambino Landscape Lighting (two homes) stopped by our job today and we spoke for about 1/2 hour.”

He’s got a new album coming out in the spring of next year, along with a documentary about Fleetwood Mac. I asked if there was a possibility that they would ever perform together again, and he said that all depends upon Stevie (who is also a client of ours).”

Gambino also posted a picture of himself with Buckingham in addition to providing his page followers with exciting details.

Naturally, the internet went crazy, commenting things like, “What an awesome day at work! I’m so very happy for you,” and, “Super cool! What an honor,” on the post.

What they didn’t comment on, though, was the reunion rumors. This could be because Buckingham never officially confirmed them or because the guitarist said it was all up to Nicks, with whom he has famously had public fights with since the 1970s. As for the documentary in question, it’s likely the Frank Marshall AppleTV+ project, announced in November 2024.

“I am fascinated by how this incredible story of enormous musical achievement came about,” Marshall said in the official announcement. “Fleetwood Mac somehow managed to merge their often chaotic and almost operatic personal lives into their own tale in real-time, which then became legend. This will be a film about the music and the people who created it.”

The announcement also said that the documentary would follow “Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks [as they] reflect on their uncompromising 50-plus-year history, from their record-breaking recordings and tours—including never-before-seen footage, exclusive new interviews, and archival interviews of the late Christine McVie—through to today.”

As of publication, the documentary doesn’t have a name or a release date.

Following that, on July 17 both Nicks and Buckingham posted lyrics from their 1973 song “Frozen Love,” off their first album Buckingham Nicks, on Instagram. Nicks wrote “if you go forward…” and then about an hour later Buckingham wrote “… I’ll meet you there,” in the exact same style font, causing the internet to wonder if they were hinting at a reunion, an album rerelease or both—none of which have been formally announced.

Then, on Monday, July 22, multiple people posted on social media that they spotted a billboard on Sunset Boulevard featuring Nicks and Buckingham’s Buckingham Nicks album cover with the date September 19, which caused people to think they may be when they are re-releasing the album. However, neither party has confirmed that they actually made the billboard and aside from pictures on social media, no publication has been able to confirm if it really exists.

A look at Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks’s current relationship status

Ever since they met in the 1960s, Buckingham and Nicks’s relationship has been rocky, filled with albums, drugs, breakups, makeups, viral performances of “Landslide” and more.

The two are currently separated—and have been since 1976—but that hasn’t stopped them from commenting on their position. In fact, back in 2021, Buckingham claimed that Nicks kicked him out of Fleetwood Mac for good.

It was all Stevie’s doing,” the guitarist claimed to People. “Stevie basically gave the band an ultimatum that either I had to go or she would go. It would be like [Mick] Jagger saying, ‘Well, either Keith [Richards] has to go, or I’m going to go.’”

Shortly after that, Nicks released a statement clarifying her side of the story.

“I did not demand he be fired,” the singer said. “Frankly, I fired myself. I proactively removed myself from the band and a situation I considered to be toxic to my well-being. I was done. If the band went on without me, so be it.”

That was the last time either party had commented on one another until that Facebook post made by Gambino earlier this month.
