Her Cat Bit Her and Saved Her Life

Her cat sure knows how to give a good love bite. This Canadian mom found that out the hard way one night when she and her family were sleeping. Little did she know, her mobile home had caught fire, and no one was awake.

That is, except the cat.

MUST-SEE: The Reason This Tough Cop Broke Character Is Too Funny

At approximately 3:30 a.m., this clever kitty crawled into the parents’ bedroom, ready to alert them of the danger. Upon realizing they were still asleep, the feline went straight up to the mother and bit her on the arm.

It was because of that bite that the parents were able to wake up, gather their two children and their hero cat, and flee the home before they could have been in serious danger.

Trevor Grant, the chief of the County of Grande Prairie Fire Department, said, “[The family] was pretty happy with their cat. The cat woke them up with enough time.”

He added, “If they hadn’t been notified, it could have definitely been a different result.”

Even better, the firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and rescue a second cat in the home shortly after they arrived on the scene. The best part? No one was injured from the flames.

Though the cause of the fire is still under investigation, the family is safe and sound at another residence–with that brave cat in tow.

“It’s pretty interesting to see that it was the cat that did alert them that there was an issue,” Grant said.

We know we’d sure want a cat like that sticking around in times of trouble! Incredible.
