35 Tail-Waggingly Cute Photos of the Royal Family With Dogs

At the time of this photograph, the queen was still just a regular kid who loved spending time with her pets. It's clear she got an early start when it came to her affection for dogs — and look at how sweet the pup looks lounging between her and Princess Margaret!

You can see just how much love Elizabeth shared with this precious pooch in her younger days. Both of their faces are just so perfectly content.

This regal dog fits perfectly with Elizabeth, Philip, Charles, Anne, and newborn Andrew in this family photo.

The family's precious corgi seems to be leading the way while the whole clan — Elizabeth, Philip, Charles, Anne, Andrew, and Edward — follow along at Windsor Castle. 

How cute are the two beagles reaching up to greet the queen's niece, Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones (left), and the Duchess of Beaufort (right)? Elizabeth looks a little jealous — but there are clearly plenty of pooches to go around! 

Prince Charles and Princess Diana had their adorable fair-haired dog by their side while posing for photos at Balmoral Castle in Scotland shortly before their lavish wedding.

Prince Edward clearly enjoyed lounging around with his beautiful black Labrador, Frances, on the grounds of Buckingham Palace. As the youngest of Elizabeth's children, this photo was shared to commemorate his 18th birthday. 

It's hard to say which is more precious: the joyful look on young Prince Harry's face, or the petite pooch sitting on Diana's lap! Either way, it adds up to being one of the cutest photos of the whole family.

We don't usually get to see such a goofy side of the royals, especially back when the princes were still so young! It's just too bad we don't have video of this moment, too.

Prince Charles was joined by his brother, Prince Edward, and some sweet pups on the bank of the River Thames in 1989. 

It might have been a soggy day, but Princess Anne's son and daughter, Peter and Zara, still had a handle on this corgi pup while watching their dad, Mark, compete in the Croft Original Horse Trails in 1986. 

Princess Diana looks lovely in her pale pink outfit while leading one of the royal corgis into Clarence House for the Queen Mother's 88th birthday.

You can definitely see a resemblance between William greeting a group of hounds back when he was nine and his oldest son, Prince George!

Princess Anne brought her three English bull terriers along for the Gatcombe Park Horse Trials in 2000. She's also joined by her body guard, but we think those pups could protect her plenty well on their own. 

You might have to squint to notice both of the dogs featured in this photo: Prince William's black Labrador, Widgeon, and Prince Charles' Jack Russell terrier, Tigga, who almost blends in with the rocks.

Harry made a couple of four-legged friends while studying at Eton College as a teen. One of his teachers, Andrew Gailey, owned these two cuties named Rosie and Jenny.

Prince William took a quick break from a polo game to snuggle up with his sweet pup, Lupo, who still lives with the royals.

Just look at Lupo's puppy dog eyes in this photo as Kate plays with him and Savannah Phillips (daughter of the queen's grandson, Peter), one of the Queen's many great-grandchildren.

William and Kate even included Lupo in their first official family photo with baby Prince George — and the pooch couldn't look prouder of his humans for making such a precious bundle of joy.

The two were pleased as punch to meet these oh-so-adorable puppies on a trip to New Zealand. It had to be difficult for William and Kate to resist the urge to take them home!

Princess Charlotte followed in her family's early canine-loving footsteps while reaching out to pet this fluffy white pup at an event.

Doesn't it seem like Prince Harry just can't resist greeting every dog he sees while out at official events?

Even the queen isn't above crouching down to give some cuddles to cute pups she meets, especially if they happen to be a corgi like this little guy.

Prince Charles didn't mind letting this tiny pooch get up close and personal while greeting her at a garden party in Scotland.

Bringing your dog along to events is clearly the best way to make sure you stand out from the crowd, as far as Prince Harry is concerned.

Of course, it makes sense that Harry's wife Meghan loves dogs just as much as he does! They even have two of their own at home, but they obviously can't say no to all the sweet faces they meet at royal events.

Prince Charles could probably fit this little lady in his jacket pocket and carry her around everywhere if he felt like it.

Michael Higgins, the president of Ireland, was understandably a bit overshadowed by his two fluffy pups when Meghan and Harry stopped by for a visit.

This pooch couldn't look any happier to have Harry share some snuggling chin scratches with him, even through the fenced barrier.

Savannah Phillips clearly had a blast rolling around with this pooch! Her sister Isla and cousin Mia Tindall (daughter of Zara, the queen's granddaughter) were pretty entertained by her antics, too. *

While still pregnant with baby Archie, Meghan couldn't help but snuggle up to this sweetpea named Foxy while visiting an animal welfare charity. 

This Irish Wolfhound named Domnhall was only too happy to greet Kate during the St. Patrick's Day Parade at the British Army's Cavalry Barracks. 

Mike Tindall, husband of the queen's granddaughter Zara, let his oldest daughter, Mia, take the reins with one of their handsome pooches while roaming around the Gatcombe Horse Trials. 

Prince Edward's wife, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, was clearly charmed by this Norfolk Terrier named Gilpin while attending the Norfolk Showground. Just look at his little face! 

Prince Harry discussed animal conservation while attending Dr. Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots Global Leadership Meeting at Windsor castle — and met this super cute cockapoo named Bella.
