Revisit the hit series that brought us famous faces like Chris Pratt!
From 2002 to 2006, we followed the Brown family and the Everwood cast for four seasons as they grappled with the trials and tribulations of settling into an unfamiliar town, dealing with loss, the ups and downs of coming-of-age, loads of small-town drama and plenty of juicy storylines. Over a decade since the show came to an end, let’s look back on one of our favorite series of the 2000s, plus, check out which of the young cast members blew up into high-profile stars!
What was ‘Everwood’ about?
When Dr. Andy Brown’s (Treat Williams) wife passes away, he’s left a widowed father of two children. Saying goodbye to his life as one of Manhattan’s top neurosurgeons, he and his family pack their bags and say goodbye to life in the city for the small town of Everwood, Colorado, a place his wife had a connection to while she was still alive. Dr. Brown and his two children, Delia (Vivien Cardone) and Ephram (Gregory Smith), learn to adjust to the new town they find themselves in—and it isn’t exactly easy. Andy must settle into his role as a doctor in a town who already has a beloved one (Harold Abbott, played by Tom Amandes), and Delia and Ephram must learn to cope with the loss of their mother, on top of having to assimilate into a place full of new and unfamiliar faces. Here, take a look at the Everwood cast today!
Everwood cast then and now
Treat Williams as Dr. Andrew “Andy” Brown

Treat Williams played the lead role of Dr. Andy Brown, the affluent big-city neurosurgeon who finds himself in unfamiliar waters when he and his two children start over in the small Colorado town of Everwood. Prior to his Everwood role, he was known for films like Hair (1979), The Phantom (1996) and Deep Rising (1998). When the early 2000s brought him success again as Dr. Williams, he continued his work on TV until he sadly passed away in 2023 in a tragic motorcycle accident. Some of his television roles were in series such as Heartland, Against the Wall, White Collar, American Odyssey, Chicago Fire and Hallmark’s Chesapeake Shores. Not only was he a successful star on screen, but the actor was also a pilot! He is remembered by his wife Pam and two children, Gill and Ellie.
Gregory Smith as Ephram Brown

Gregory Smith played the role of Ephram Brown, the older son of Dr. Andy Brown who, throughout the series, learns to have a relationship with his ex-workaholic father in their new home. On top of that, he also deals with the typical trials and tribulations that come with being a teenager. After being a part of the Everwood cast, Smith continued to act in various movies and series until 2010 when he took on a steady role in the series Rookie Blue. His most recent acting credit was in a 2017 episode of Designated Survivor, as he’s transitioned more into a directing role. Some of the shows he has directed include Riverdale, Superman & Lois, Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow and more. Outside of his work, Smith is happily married to Taylor McKay, with whom he shares two children. Though it’s been years since Everwood was on the air, Smith has reflected fondly on his time on the show in the past. “Everwood changed my life,” he told Cinephelia & Beyond in 2014. “It was almost like university experience for me. The writers and directors were my professors and the cast were my graduating class. I learned so much about storytelling that I use everyday on every project. It holds a very special place in my memory. To be honest, I can’t imagine where I would be today if I hadn’t been given the opportunity to work on that show and with all those talented people.”
Vivien Cardone as Delia Brown

Vivien Cardone played Andy’s young daughter and Ephram’s little sister Delia. After her time as the show’s resident youngster, Cardone has acted sparingly in shows including Law & Order: Criminal Intent, One Life to Live, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Theater: Interrupted, and the 2008 film, All Roads Lead Home. In 2023, the actress got engaged. “I’ll never forget when I first went there, it was really tough because my father had to stay in New York,” Cardone remembered at the TV Critics’ Association summer press tour in 2017 as reported by E! News. “Treat came up to me and said, listen, I know it’s been hard, your dad is away, and I’ll make a deal with you. My family is not with me either, so if you promise to be my temporary daughter, I’ll be your temporary father.”
Emily VanCamp as Amy Abbott

Emily VanCamp played the role of Amy Abbott, the daughter of locally beloved physician Harold Abbott and the love interest of Ephram. She endures many ups and downs throughout the series, including the death of her boyfriend Colin. Emily VanCamp is a member of the Everwood cast who has gone on to have an extremely successful career both on the big screen and the small screen. After Everwood, she had roles in series like Brothers & Sisters and Revenge before breaking out into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Her first role within that realm was in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), followed by Captain America: Civil War (2016) and the series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Her most recent on-screen television stint was in The Resident.
Chris Pratt as Bright Abbott

Chris Pratt went from playing Amy’s brother and Harold’s son Bright to being one of Hollywood’s most famous faces. After Everwood, Pratt had smaller roles in series like The O.C. before his role as lovable goof Andy Dwyer in Parks and Recreation.
Pratt has shown significant range throughout his career, playing light hearted characters like Andy to action heroes like Peter Quill or Starlord in the Guardians of the Galaxy film series and Owen Grady in the Jurassic World film series. His most recent roles have been in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023), the voice of Mario in The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023), James Reece in The Terminal List, and most recently, The Electric State (2025) alongside Millie Bobby Brown.
Merrilyn Gann as Rose Abbott

Merrilyn Gann played the role of Rose Abbott, Harold’s wife and Amy and Bright’s mother. After her time on the series came to an end, she could be seen on shows like Supernatural, Life Unexpected, Smallville, The Killing and most recently in 2015, Mistresses.
Tom Amandes as Harold Abbott

Tom Amandes played Dr. Harold Abbott. The goofy and beloved town doctor was initially at odds with newcomer Dr. Andy Brown before the duo eventually comes together. After Everwood, Tom Amandes appeared in numerous television series and continues to do so to this day. Some of these include Curb Your Enthusiasm, Boston Legal, Eli Stone, Big Love, Parenthood, Castle, Chicago Fire and most recently, Perry Mason and The Terminal List.
Sarah Drew as Hannah Rogers in the Everwood cast

Sarah Drew played Hannah in Everwood, joining halfway through the series. However, she still played an important role in the cast.
After Everwood, she made appearances in series such as Private Practice, Castle, Mad Men and Glee before taking on perhaps her most celebrated role of April Kepner in Grey’s Anatomy. Her most recent credits include Such a Pretty Girl (2025), Mistletoe Murders and Branching Out (2024). During her time on Everwood, Drew remembers dealing with a lot of hate online, something she detailed during an episode of Rachel Bilson and Olivia Allen’s podcast, Broad Ideas. “Everwood was my first show ever, and I got addicted, there was no social media yet, but there were forums and message boards. And I was addicted to reading message boards,” she said . “It’s the worst thing ever. It was so bad for me. Because my character, I came on to play the ugly wallflower best friend of Emily VanCamp. I had glasses and frizzy hair and not a stitch of makeup. I was the ugly one, the ugly duckling.”
Stephanie Niznik as Nina Feeney in the Everwood cast

Stephanie Niznik played the Brown family’s neighbor and the love interest of Andy in Everwood. After her time on the show, she made guest appearances in a number of series including Grey’s Anatomy, Life Is Wild, CSI: Miami, NCIS and Lost. Sadly, she passed away in 2019.
Debra Mooney as Edna Harper in the Everwood cast

Debra Mooney played the role of Edna Harper, Harold Abbott’s mother, before taking on several guest roles in series such as The Closer, Psych, Private Practice, Boston Legal, Bones and many, many more. Her most recent roles have been in Inventing Anna, Grey’s Anatomy, Grace and Frankie, Walker and Doctor Odyssey.
John Beasley as Irv Harper in the Everwood cast

Irv is the beloved husband of Edna, played by John Beasley. After his time in the Everwood cast, you could find him in series like Treme, The Soul Man, Shots Fired, Limetown, The Mandalorian and more. His most recent role was in It Snows All the Time (2022). He sadly passed away in 2023 at the age of 79.
Scott Wolf as Jake Hartman

Before his role as Dr. Jake Hartman on Everwood, Scott Wolf was known for his portrayal of Bailey Salinger on Party of Five. He continued acting post-Everwood, appearing on shows like V, Perception, The Night Shift, Nancy Drew and Doc, to name a few. Recently, Wolf remembered his time on Everwood fondly. “Everwood was a really wonderful experience. Moved my wife and I to Utah, where we still live. Was my first doctor role,” he told TV Insider. “I’ve now played four. Some amazing people on that show. Treat Williams, rest his soul, Chris Pratt, Greg Smith, Emily VanCamp, just like a beautiful cast of actors.” Wolf’s personal life has made headlines as earlier this month, he filed for divorce from his wife, Kelley Wolf. Kelley, who was recently detained in Utah and hospitalized amidst a reported mental health crisis, has spoken out about their relationship, saying she initiated their split about nine months prior.
