Henry Winkler to Host ‘Hazardous History’—Inside the Wild New History Channel Series!
The ‘Happy Days’ star explores history’s most reckless moments in his new TV docu-series!
“Ayy,” it’s true. Henry Winkler is going to be back on your screens in no time. You love Winkler for his beloved role as Fonzie on Happy Days, but what about as a TV host for an explosive history show? Henry Winkler is set to host the new series, Hazardous History with Henry Winkler for the History Channel, and boy, are we excited.
The Happy Days alum is joining the television network to host, narrate and executively produce the new show, which is an eight-part series. Each part will explore some of the most dangerous and reckless moments in history.
Winkler shared his excitement about working with the History Channel and what you have to look forward to with this new history show.
“Working with The History Channel has not only been a fun experience, but I also found it so interesting,” Winkler said. “I’m excited to share with you America’s unconventional past when things were weirder than they are today. This is a series full of death-defying and iconic cultural moments, and I couldn’t be more excited to bring viewers on this wild ride with me.”
What is ‘Hazardous History’ about?
The new historical series will dive deep into some of history’s most dangerous products, practices and moments. According to TMX, “the series will examine forgotten but once-common practices, from doctors prescribing cigarettes and lithium-laced sodas to radioactive toys and toxic refrigerators.”
They’ve also said that the show will be perfect for history buffs and comedians alike, as it will offer a mix of historical insight and humor. Eli Lehrer, EVP and Head of Programming for The History Channel, shared more insight on what fans of the History Channel, and Henry Winkler, can expect.
“With Henry’s trademark charm and wit, this series delivers the perfect blend of humor and history within each cautionary tale,” Lehrer said. “It’s a fascinating look back into history where the line between innovation and recklessness was often blurred.”
When will ‘Hazardous History’ premiere?
If you’re looking forward to Winkler’s fun new adventure, get ready. The series will be premiering later this year (exact date TBD), with episodes available the next day for streaming on The History Channel app, history.com, as well as other major VOD platforms. If you can’t take the commercials, there will also be the option of purchasing ad-free versions of the episodes on Amazon Prime Video and other streaming services.
