When it comes to gripping, action-packed dramas, Taylor Sheridan knows how to bring the heat—and Lioness is no exception. With a star-studded cast bringing to life some seriously badass ladies, fans of the show will be excited to learn that production for the third season is already underway, with filming taking place over the next few days in Fort Worth, Texas. Here, check out what we know about Lioness season 3, who’s returning and when we can expect to see it on screens.

What happened in ‘Lioness’ seasons 1 and 2?

The first season of Lioness, also known as Special Ops: Lioness, followed Joe, played by Zoe Saldaña, the station chief of the Lioness program, which is a crew of undercover female operatives who work toward infiltrating terrorist organizations from the inside. Joining her in this initial journey is a fierce young Marine Raider, Cruz, who is portrayed by Laysla De Oliveira. Overseen by Kaitlyn Meade, portrayed by none other than Nicole Kidman, Joe guides Cruz as she befriends the daughter of Asmar Ali Amrohi, a man with ties to various terrorist organizations, to put an end to his operations. However, for Cruz, the lines begin to blur between her real identity and undercover identity as she grows closer to his daughter, complicating their operation. In the second season, the mission hits closer to home when a congresswoman is kidnapped by the Los Tigres cartel, who has ties to an even larger operation. Led by Alvaro Carillo, the Lioness program seeks out his niece, Josie, a helicopter pilot for the U.S. Army, to join their initiative. By the end of the season, after tough losses and moral conflicts, the toll of their job is evident.
