Alex Drummond Takes Baby Sofia to Pumpkin Patch — And Ree’s Comment Will Melt Your Heart
The Pioneer Woman's granddaughter enjoyed her fall outing in the sweetest outfit ever.
Spooky season is almost here and Alex Drummond’s daughter Sofia is ready to celebrate. In a recent Instagram post, Alex posted that Sofia went to the pumpkin patch for the first time and gave viewers a sweet look at the playdate she appeared to be on. We share the photos, and tell you how grandma Ree Drummond—a.k.a. The Pioneer Woman—responded to the post below.

On Wednesday, October 22, Alex, age 28, posted on Instagram that she and her daughter Sofia had gone to a pumpkin patch with a few of their friends. Sofia wore a pink and orange dress with knitted pumpkins on the top, whereas Alex chose a long green and white floral dress with white tennis shoes and a diamond cross necklace.
“Princess of the pumpkin patch,” the caption read.
Following that, grandma Ree–who just spent time with baby Sofia—commented, “Two of my favorite girls! Love you both.”
This is Sofia’s first Halloween, and Alex and her husband Mauricio Scott haven’t shared what they plan on dressing their daughter up as yet, but based on the sweet moments they’ve already shared, we can practically guarantee it’s going to be adorable and heartwarming.
A look at Baby Sofia’s other spooky season adventures
Along with the pumpkin patch, Sofia was recently featured in the Halloween issue of her grandmother’s magazine, The Pioneer Woman. Her two-page spread included pictures of her dressed like a cowgirl, a mummy, Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, a cow and an Oklahoma City Thunder (OKC) player.
Alex took her daughter to the store to see the magazine in person, but noted that Sofia was “too distracted by ReeRee on the cover” and didn’t even look at her own pictures.
Also in the magazine feature, it was revealed that Alex herself dressed up as a mummy back when she was 9 years old. To do so, she wrapped herself in torn up bed sheets, then announced that she had to use the restroom, irritating Ree to no end.
“Good news,” Ree said in the feature. “The statute of limitations on Halloween-related grudges runs out this year.”
Alex’s mummy photo was featured next to Sofia’s on the magazine spread, making it the perfect full-circle mother-daughter moment.
Alex Drummond reveals her favorite Halloween costume of all time
Even though her mummy look was iconic, in 2021 Alex shared that her favorite costume of all time was when she dressed up as a racecar driver.
“I tell people this all the time, but I used to be a huge tomboy when I was younger. My mom probably remembers this, but when I was, like, 4 I wanted to be a NASCAR driver,” she said. “So I dressed up as Jeff Gordon, the NASCAR driver.”
Ree then added on, that saying “She picked it out, too. I took her to a costume shop and let her walk around freely, and 20 minutes later she was pointing to a Jeff Gordon jumpsuit and saying, ‘Dat.’ Who was I to say no?”
