Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Yellowstone’ Universe Could Become a Video Game—Starring You!

Ever since Yellowstone first debuted in 2018, the detailed world created and cultivated by Taylor Sheridan has evolved and expanded year by year. First, fans got a glimpse at one of the earlier generations of the Dutton family with the 2021 premiere of 1883. Later, the story continued with the 2022 premiere of 1923. After Yellowstone concluded in 2024, the characters we grew to love didn’t simply cease to exist. Earlier this year, fans got to explore Kayce Dutton’s next chapter with the premiere of Marshals, and just a few weeks ago, we embarked on Beth and Rip’s newest adventure when Dutton Ranch debuted.

While we’re sure to see the Duttons shine plenty over the next few years, there’s a chance we’ll get to experience a new Yellowstone story—and it won’t be on TV. Last week, Paramount Skydance revealed their next move, and the major media corporation plans to dive into the world of video games through their latest venture, Paramount Game Studios. 

“This division launch marks a meaningful evolution in how we think about games–not as an extension of our business, but as a core pillar of our content strategy alongside film, television, and streaming,” said Tony Driscoll, the new president of Paramount Games Studio, per Variety. 

So does this mean a Yellowstone video game could be on the way? Here, we explore the possibilities. 

A Taylor Sheridan video game could be coming

At Summer Game Fest, Paramount revealed their plans to expand into video games, and in addition to their new games studio, they detailed an exciting collaboration with PlatinumGames, a Japanese game developer who have left a major mark on the industry.

In conversation with Polygon, Shawn Kittelsen, who leads creative and production at the new Paramount Game Studios, opened up about what was to come—and it seems as though the works of Taylor Sheridan could be getting the video game treatment. 

“All of the Yellowstone and Yellowstone-adjacent titles, Landman, Tulsa King, these are all priorities for us,” he revealed. Though Kittelson shared that much of their development will revolve around popular titles like SpongeBob SquarePants, Star Trek, Avatar: The Last Airbender and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, there’s something to be said about the action and expertly crafted storylines of Taylor Sheridan’s series that can lend well to a video game narrative. 

While we wait for more details about when we might see a Taylor Sheridan Yellowstone video game, it’s heartwarming to know that the stories and characters we’ve come to love will continue to be part of our lives in new and exciting ways.
