Peach Salsa Is Bursting With Sweet and Zesty Goodness: 2 Easy Recipes Worth Preparing

Here's the chef's trick to nailing flavorful (not watery) peach salsa as a snack or homemade condiment

If you’re looking for a new and delicious way to enjoy in-season peaches, turn them into a homemade salsa. Peach salsa puts a fruity twist on the classic chunky sauce and is a cinch to make at home. Once prepared, the salsa is perfect as a snack with tortilla chips or to use as a topping for chicken, salmon or pork chops. The best part: We’ve cracked the code on how to avoid watery salsa for yummy results. Read on for tips on making peach salsa and our test kitchen’s two favorite recipes!

The ingredients in peach salsa

Many peach salsa recipes combine the diced fruit with onions, cilantro, lime juice and jalapeño. Additional ingredients like tomatoes and mint can be added to create a more vibrant mixture. These ingredients produce a salsa with the right balance of sweet and savory flavors. So, it can do double duty as a refreshing snack or homemade condiment for grilled meats, tacos or sandwiches.

Chef’s secret to flavorful homemade salsa

While peach salsa can last a couple of days stored in the fridge, it’s best eaten on the same day for maximum freshness. Simply serve the salsa right after preparing it, or use this tip from food writer and editor Rochelle Bilow to deepen the flavors. “Prepare your salsa an hour before you plan on serving it,” she writes for Bon Appétit. “Just keep in mind: The longer it sits, the soupier it will get, so plan accordingly.”  The saying “time is off the essence” couldn’t be more true when it comes to peach salsa. Therefore, you shouldn’t waste a moment to savor it at its freshest!

Should you peel peaches before using them for salsa?

Whether or not you have to peel the peaches depends on the recipe you’re using. But, if it doesn’t call for it, save yourself the elbow grease and get right into preparing the salsa. (Our guide on how to peel a peach and remove the stone comes in handy when you need to do this step.)
