Super Bowl Sunday is all about the food—and you can’t change our mind. Sure, the game is fun, but let’s be real, the snacks score the real touchdown. And if there’s one thing that’ll get the crowd cheering no matter which team is winning, it’s these pull-apart pizza sliders. They’re everything you love about a classic slice, packed into soft, buttery rolls and baked until irresistibly gooey. And who doesn’t love pizza-fying food? Best of all, they prep in fifteen minutes, so you can spend less time in the kitchen and more time enjoying the game (or the commercials). Whether you’re feeding a full house or just need a fun dinner idea sans football, these sliders deliver big flavor with minimal effort.

We usually think of a box of pizza as the main course. But why not make it more of an appetizer (and save room for more)? Think of these sliders as the perfect combination of pizza and party food. They’re handheld, packed with melty cheese, pepperoni and plenty of seasoning, and they bake up in an hour. Plus, they’re totally customizable—add your favorite toppings or switch things up to make them your own.

What you’ll need

The ingredient list is short, simple and full of pantry staples. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Hawaiian rolls – Soft and slightly sweet, these make the perfect base.
  • Pizza sauce – Store-bought or homemade, we won’t judge either way.
  • Mozzarella cheese – Shredded for that perfect cheese pull.
  • Pepperoni – Classic, but feel free to swap for your favorites.
  • Butter and garlic – Brushed on top for extra flavor (more on this later).
  • Italian seasoning and Parmesan – A finishing touch to make them taste just like your favorite pizzeria.

Tips for the best pull-apart pizza sliders

Want to take your sliders to the next level? Keep these handy tips in mind:

  • Use a serrated knife for slicing. This keeps the rolls intact while cutting. Make sure to go slowly which prevents tearing and helps the sliders hold their shape.
  • Toast the rolls first. While this is optional, lightly toasting the bottom halves of the rolls before adding toppings helps prevent them from getting soggy.
  • Use a foil for baking. Covering the sliders with foil for the first half of baking helps the cheese melt evenly without over-browning the tops.

Fun add-ons and variations

Like any pizza night, these sliders are totally adaptable! Besides the classic cheese and pepperoni, here are some fun ways to change them up:

  • Meat lovers: Add crumbled sausage or cooked bacon.
  • Veggie supreme: Bell peppers, onions and black olives make a great combo.
  • Hawaiian twist: Swap pepperoni for ham and add a little pineapple.

We’re sharing our favorite recipe Tieghan Gerard from Half Baked Harvest. Her pizza sliders have a roasted garlic butter sauce drizzled on top—trust us, you’ll be thanking her. Plus, she makes it extra cheesy with three kinds. Don’t worry about roasting garlic, Gerard says the oven does most of the work for you.

Ingredients:

  • 1 head garlic
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 (12-ct.) package Hawaiian dinner rolls, halved lengthwise
  • 1-1½ cups marinara sauce
  • ¾ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¾ cup shredded provolone cheese
  • ¼ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup thinly sliced pepperoni
  • 3 Tbs. salted butter, at room temperature or melted
  • 1 Tbs. chopped fresh sage
  • 2 tsp. dried basil
  • 1 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1 tsp. dried parsley
  • 1 pinch chili flakes

Directions:

  • Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
  • Yield: 12 sliders
  1. Preheat the oven to 400° F.
  2. Slice off the top portion of the garlic head to expose some of the cloves. Place the garlic on a piece of foil, then drizzle with olive oil, wrap it up and bake for 40 to 55 minutes, until deeply golden and very soft.
  3. Meanwhile, place the bottom half of the dinner rolls onto a baking sheet lined with parchment. Top with marinara sauce, mozzarella, provolone and then pepperoni. Sprinkle with half the parmesan. Place the top half of the roll over the cheese.
  4. Let the garlic cool, then squeeze the cloves out into a bowl. Add the butter, remaining parmesan, sage, basil, oregano, parsley and chili flakes. Mash the cloves into the butter with a fork. Spread the butter over the top of the rolls.
  5. Cover the rolls with foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking another 10 minutes, until the cheese has melted. Brush with any remaining garlic butter and serve immediately.

Make-ahead and storage tips

Want to get ahead on party prep? You can assemble these pull-apart pizza sliders a few hours in advance and refrigerate until you’re ready to bake. If you have leftovers (though they’ll probably disappear fast), just pop them in the oven at 350°F for five to 10 minutes to reheat. They’re best fresh, but you can also freeze them for a quick snack later.
