Danny Wakefield was going to give a sunflower to someone he went on a date with. But then he met someone who needed it so much more.

As he explained in a Love What Matters post, he was at a coffee shop with the sunflower in his hand when he spotted a woman sitting alone in tears. He couldn’t explain it, but he knew what he had to do.

“It was like there was a magnet in the sunflower that was being drawn to her, because I knew in that moment she was who I was going to give the sunflower to; she was who I had to give it to,” he wrote.

Danny walked right up to her and offered her the sunflower, and she responded by flying into his arms, still in tears.

“She was crying because her fiancé had died the week before, just months before they were going to get married,” he wrote.

But then came an even more jaw-dropping confession from the woman about her late fiancé.

“On their first date he brought her a sunflower and from then on, got her sunflowers, never roses, because she was the light of his life,” Danny wrote.

The way Danny sees it, this is a sign of how such a simple gesture can change someone’s life–and yours.

He wrote, “Today, through me, he was able to show her that she’ll always be the light of his life and how we as humans have a message to carry that goes far beyond words.”

Beautiful!
