10 Signs a Mom Raised Her Kids Right

If you’re a mom, you know what it’s like to constantly worry about your child. From fretting about his or her safety in this crazy world to agonizing about whether he or she is eating enough fruits and vegetables, it’s safe to say that your child will always be your baby that you feel the need to protect, no matter how old he or she is. And as kids grow older, one major worry lurking in the back of many mom’s minds is this: “Will my kid turn out OK?”

Moms, please do yourself a favor and save this list for the next time this scary thought pops in your head. We’re sure you did a marvelous job raising your kids, and now that they’re growing up — or maybe even all grown up already — it’s time to reap all these benefits of all your hard work. Rest assured you did a great job raising your kids if…

1. “Please” and “thank you” are still regular words in their vocabulary.

They’ve learned the important lesson that good manners never go out of style. Bonus points for “excuse me.”

2. Not only do they smile in family photos, they show their teeth.

They recognize that no matter how cheesy the photo is that it’s a reminder of family time — which is time to be cherished.

3. They call you out of the blue for no reason at all.

They don’t just give you a ring when they need something — or when they want something.

4. They ask you about your day before telling you about theirs.

They’ve finally learned that it’s not all about them all the time.

5. They know when it’s appropriate to dress up — and tuck in that shirt.

And they have enough respect for their peers — and their elders — to actually do so.

6. They never use the last fill-in-the-blank-item without replacing it.

Good-bye to the days of seeing that last square of toilet paper hanging by a thread on the roll.

7. They offer to do chores or run errands for you that they used to hate.

They finally are willing to make some sacrifices for you, even if it means going out of their way to make it happen.

8. They don’t let anyone talk badly about their family members — even their dance moves.

They may joke around with relatives from time to time (especially younger siblings), but watch out if anyone outside the family tries it!

9. They always get compliments from other moms.

They’re being recognized by others as the valuable people that you always knew they’d turn out to be.

10. They never forget where they came from.

They always pay homage to those who came before them — and apply their important lessons to their daily lives now.
