This psychological thriller follows struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh after she’s hired to complete bestselling author Verity Crawford’s book series when Verity is injured in a car accident. Fake dating takes center stage in this BookTok favorite rom-com. Third-year PhD candidate Olive Smith doesn’t believe in love, but when her best friend won’t stop meddling, Olive makes an impulsive decision: She kisses the first man she sees. Unfortunately, that man is Adam Carlsen, a grumpy young professor. Shockingly, he agrees to fake date her, claiming that the charade will benefit them both. As they spend more time together, their chemistry becomes undeniable and soon both Olive and Adam start to wonder if their fake relationship might be turning into something very real.

In 1995 Alice Hoffman released Practical Magic. Then, in 2021, she released The Book of Magic, which was republished under the name Practical Magic 2 in 2026. The sequel begins in 1620 when Maria Owens is tried for witchcraft. Ever since, all Owens women have been unlucky in love. In the present day, 78-year-old Jet Owens knows she has seven days to live. Before her death, she discovers The Book of the Raven, which might be the key to defeating the curse once and for all.
