What we know so far about the new Taylor Jenkins Reid book

On Friday, July 10, Reid took to Instagram to post a Polaroid photo of a 1970s or 80s pickup  truck with “TJR27” written on the license plate. She  captioned the post, “See you on 3.2.27.” Immediately, fans began buzzing, wondering what she was teasing. The general consensus was that it was her new book, to be released on March 2, 2027. But other fans were wondering if it was movie adaptation news or details on when her Broadway musical based on The Chicks would hit center stage.

Evelyn Hugo movie premiere?” Wondered one fan.

Then, on Tuesday, July 14, Reid once again took to Instagram to tease the project. In this post, which was captioned “stay tuned,” Reid had a montage of clips, including casinos, billiards, old-time cars, the desert, record players and more. It seemed like she was hinting at something related to her bestselling book, Daisy Jones and the Six (DJATS), but as fans know, that TV show adaptation has already been released.

DJATS did play a Vegas show, hoping this storyline has the character at their show as a fan and then your next project is DJATS season 2/book two,” one reader commented.

“Whatever it is I’ve already preordered,” commented one user. Another said, “I’m in line outside the bookstore and they told me that I am too early, but I’m not moving.”

So, what exactly is Reid promoting? The answer is still unclear, but many readers are counting down the minutes until Reid shares more details.

A look back at what Taylor Jenkins Reid has said about her next projects

Prior to these cryptic Instagram posts, Reid did give her fans an update in August 2025 at the Las Vegas Book Festival, telling the audience, “I do know where we’re going next.”

“I turned it in on Friday,” the author continued. “To be clear, it still needs a lot of work. My editor is going to send me a 20-page letter about all the things that I need to fix and then I’ll fix them and you’ll have a book to read.”

Reid has also teased what fans can expect from her musical, “Goodbye Earl” which is inspired by The Chicks.

“I had the idea [when] I was driving and listening to  ‘Goodbye, Earl’ and I was like ‘This is a story. This could be its own story. And then I was like ‘What if you used the songs of The Chicks to tell that story,” Reid said on The Kelly Clarkson Show

“And one of my best friends in the whole world [Rodger] is a Broadway fanatic. She works on Broadway, and I was with her to see Moulin Rouge a couple of years ago. And right before the curtain comes up, I say to her, ‘I have a crazy idea, but what about Goodbye Earl as a jukebox musical?’ And I pitch her the story in my head, and she goes, ‘Okay, what’s the second act?’ And I was like, “I think I might need your help writing this.’ So we wrote it together, and then we called everyone we could think of in Hollywood that might know The Chicks, and we finally found someone.”

As of publication, there is no news on when this musical could be released, but who knows—Reid may have just revealed the date on her Instagram.
