What is ‘Shatter Me’ about?
Shatter Me is a bestselling young adult series that follows 17-year-old Juliette Ferrars, who has a lethal touch and is imprisoned by a totalitarian regime called The Reestablishment. Desperate to get out, Juliette learns how to use her powers to protect and defend herself, all while dealing with her conflicting feelings for Aaron Warner Anderson, the Chief Commander and Regent of Sector 45 and son of the regime’s evil Supreme Commander, Paris Anderson.
The book was originally published in 2011 and since then, Mafi has written several bestselling sequels, novellas and follow-up series.

“Juliette is the kind of person I’d like to be. She has a lot of inner strength and a lot of compassion. I admire her for being able to hold onto her humanity in a world that has given her nothing to hope for,” Mafi told Seventeen magazine back in 2012. “I do think that the isolation and alienation Juliette experiences is something that many teens (and adults) are able to relate to. We all feel a bit cast-off and misunderstood, sometimes; like there might be something about us that sets us apart from our peers. Juliette’s affliction takes that idea to an extreme.”
What we know so far about the ‘Shatter Me’ movie
Earlier this month Variety revealed that Warner Bros. had acquired the rights to Mafi’s Shatter Me series and plans to turn the series into a movie.
“I’ve been tremendously lucky to have a devoted fanbase over the last 15 years, and I’m excited for the chance to bring the Shatter Me world and characters to life in a way that will honor the fans and their love for these books,” Mafi told the outlet. “Warner Bros. has been a great partner so far, and I’m looking forward to creating a memorable cinematic experience that elevates the series to new heights.”

Following that interview, Mafi took to Instagram, writing: “I really think we have the chance to make something great with this team. I’m coming on as an executive producer for this project, and I’ll be advocating for you always.”
Naturally, fans went crazy, writing “Tahereh!!!! Ahhh this is the best news, congrats congrats!” and “If they screw this up it will be my villain origin story” on the post.
‘Shatter Me’ movie release date
As of publication, the Shatter Me movie is still in pre-production, meaning it doesn’t have a release date. And based on Mafi’s comments, it’s safe to assume they have been working on this adaptation for a while, meaning that we could see Juliette and Warner on our screens soon.
