Ford Motor Company is recalling over 100,000 vehicles related to two separate issues, according to a recall notice posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The two separate recalls totaling 110,626 vehicles are due to issues that could increase the risk of a crash, according to the recall notices.

Here’s what to know about the models included in the recalls, why the recalls have been issued and what car owners of the recalled vehicles should do.

Which models are included in the Ford recall?

The following vehicles are included in the two recalls, according to the NHTSA:

  • 2021 to 2023 Ford Mustang Mach E (42,784 vehicles, 26V417000)
  • 2025 to 2026 Ford Mustang GTD (289 vehicles, 26V418000)
  • 2024 to 2026 Ford Mustangs (67,553 vehicles, 26V418000)

Why are the Ford vehicles being recalled?

Ford is recalling 2021 to 2023 Ford Mustang Mach E vehicles as “the rear differential pinion shaft may fracture,” the recall stated, which could lead to the unintended movement or loss of drive power or the vehicle may move while in park if the parking brake isn’t applied.

Additionally, 2025 to 2026 Ford Mustang GTD and 2024 to 2026 Ford Mustangs are being recalled due to malfunctioning windshield wipers and washing systems. At cold temperatures, the windshield wipers may only function at the high-speed setting, while the washing system might fail to work.

What to do if you have a recalled Ford vehicle

For the recall affecting 2021 to 2023 Ford Mustang Mach E vehicles, drivers will be able to take their vehicles to a Ford dealership, where the rear differential assembly will be repaired or replaced free of charge. Owners will receive a letter notifying them of the safety risk expected to be mailed on July 13. Another letter is expected to be sent in December, once the remedy is available.

For the recall affecting 2025 to 2026 Ford Mustang GTD and 2024 to 2026 Ford Mustangs, owners are expected to be mailed a letter notifying them of the risk, which should be sent by July 8. An additional letter is expected to be sent in March 2027 when a remedy to the recall is available.

Owners who believe their cars might be involved in the recall can also search for their vehicle identification number (VIN), state and license plate number or their vehicle’s year, make and model on NHTSA.gov to see whether their vehicles are included.

Owners can also call Ford’s customer service at 1-866-436-7332 with any questions they might have regarding the recall.
