People All Over the Country Are Getting Paid to Eat Avocados — Here’s How You Can Be One of Them
Raise your hand if you’re a fan of avocados. Keep it held high if you also enjoy getting some extra cash in your wallet. If that sounds like you, we think you’ll be thrilled to know that you can now get paid for eating avocados. Yes, you read that correctly.
It’s all part of an upcoming scientific study called the Habitual Diet and Avocado Trial. Spread across the United States, this research will investigate whether or not eating avocados can help reduce abdominal fat. Five research sites in the country are currently seeking avocado aficionados to eat a specific amount of the pretty produce to see if it can help them lose weight and body fat. These research sites are: Loma Linda University in California; University of California at Los Angeles; Tufts University in Massachusetts; Pennsylvania State University; and Wake Forest University in North Carolina.
Each research site will recruit 250 participants for a grand total of 1,000. According to a press release, all the participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. The first group will be given 16 avocados every two weeks and will be required to eat one avocado per day during the six-month study. The second group will be required to eat no more than two avocados per month during the same period. All participants will complete the study with an extra $300 in their pockets.
Easy access to avocados, guaranteed cash, and the possibility of losing weight? Sounds like a dream come true to us!
But not just any avocado fan can be part of the research. In order to participate in the study, you must be 25 years or older. Female participants must measure at least 35 inches around the waist, and male participants must measure at least 45 inches around the waist. All participants must be willing to eat either one avocado per day for six months straight or two avocados per month for six months. Participants may also be required to visit the research site they choose numerous times throughout the study.
If you fit the description of all the above requirements and don’t mind the possibility of some traveling, you can find out more details about the study and whether you qualify to participate here.
