Amazon Prime Members Now Get Gas Discounts—Here’s How to Activate the Perks and Other Pump-Saving Tips
Learn the quick steps that will have you saving $70 per year on gas at three different stations
With holiday travel just around the corner, many people are looking for more ways than ever to cut down on costs. Thankfully, Amazon is now offering a chance to do so by making gas prices more affordable—you just need to be a Prime member! Keep reading to find out more about the fuel savings included with a Prime membership, how to enjoy the perks and other ways you can save money at the pump.
What fuel savings are included in an Amazon Prime Membership?
On October 23, Amazon announced that Prime members will now be able to cut down on costs whenever they hit the gas station. The savings offer is for 10 cents per gallon, which is estimated to save people an average of $70 per year, according to the company’s website.
Even better news: All fuel grades are included, so you won’t be out of luck if you need or prefer premium over plus, for example. There’s also no minimum or maximum number of gallons required, so you can get the savings no matter how much you spend at the pump.
The only caveat is you can only reap the benefits at certain gas stations—they must be BP, Amoco, or Aampm. Luckily, there are 7,000 of these across the U.S., so you’ll have more chances to take advantage when you need to refuel your vehicle.
Have an electric vehicle? CNBC reports that in 2025, Amazon will expand this benefit by adding a discount for electric vehicle charging. It will be in collaboration with BP Pulse, BP’s electric vehicle charging business.
How to activate your fuel savings with Prime Membership

To take advantage of the gas discount, Prime members should first head to amazon.com/fuelsavings to activate the offer. Thankfully, this only has to be done once in order to enjoy the savings. (Find out other ways to save money when shopping on Amazon!)
You will then be prompted to log in or create a free account for Earnify, the loyalty program for BP. According to the BP website, this membership leads to exclusive offers, cashback on purchases and 5 cents off every gallon. This means Prime members will be able to double the savings they would have received with just an Earnify account.
Once you have connected the accounts, it’s time to start saving! You can immediately apply the offer at the pump by entering your phone number, using the Earnify app or the linked payment method you have for your Earnify account.
If you had to create a new Earnify account, you’ll get to enjoy extra short-term perks, reports CNBC. These include a 250-point welcome offer and earning 2X points for the first 90 days after you register.
Other fuel-saving programs to know about
Not a Prime member or go to other gas stations more frequently? There are similar programs and memberships that can help you save on the cost of fuel.
- Walmart+ members are able to save 10 cents per gallon on fuel. This can be done at more than 13,000 Mobil, Exxon, Walmart and Murphy gas stations.
- Exxon also has its own program. When you sign up for the Exxon Mobil Rewards+ program, you’ll earn 3 points per gallon on fuel. Plus, “premium status members earn an additional 3 bonus points per gallon when you fill up 3 times a month with eight gallons or more of Synergy Supreme+ premium gas,” according to the Exxon website.
- The Shell Fuel Rewards program allows you to earn even when you aren’t at the pump, reports Bank Rate. For example, you’ll get 10 cents off every gallon of gas for every $50 you spend at participating restaurants linked to your card, and 5 cents off for the same amount spent at participating online retailers. Buying live event tickets can also lead to a 10-cent discount.
- As part of Speedway’s Speedy Rewards program, members earn 10 points for every gallon of fuel. Since the program is more flexible, however, those points can be used for more than just money off at the pump.
- Circle K offers its Inner Circle program, which means 25 cents per gallon off on your first five fill-ups. Though it drops to 3 cents after that, you can enjoy a savings of 5 cents per gallon once you hit premium status. This occurs after you’ve spent $500 on gasoline as a member.
