When I first moved to Florida, I never expected to make a new best friend. On one of my walks, I met my neighbor Lily, and it felt like we’d known each other forever. When I needed surgery, Lily gave me a small, iridescent crystal. “For luck and healing,” she whispered.

I must admit that I didn’t give it much credence, but my surgery went well…so maybe the crystal did actually help.

Regardless, I held on to it for years. But as days turned into weeks, the crystal disappeared, and with it, a small piece of my comfort. Life carried on with lots of fun times shared with Lily until the day her daughter called to tell me that Lily had passed away suddenly. I was grief-stricken with an emptiness that words could not fill.

As I prepared for her funeral, I chose a suit I hadn’t worn in quite a while, and one I knew she admired. Standing by her side for the last time, I reached into my pocket for a handkerchief, as the tears had already begun to flow. My fingers brushed against something smooth and familiar. With a trembling hand, I pulled out the crystal Lily had given me. A wave of warmth and solace washed over me, as if she were there, comforting me one last time.

In that moment, I knew that Lily’s spirit lingered, guiding and protecting me from beyond. The crystal was not just a token of friendship but a symbol of an eternal bond that even death could not sever. As I stood there, with the crystal clasped in my hand, I felt a profound sense of peace, knowing that Lily’s love would always be with me, lighting my path through the darkest of times.

The love and friendship we hold dear continue to support and guide us, even after our loved ones have passed. Such experiences remind us that those we’ve lost are still with us in spirit, offering gentle reminders of their presence and the strength of our bond. The wave of energy she felt was like a gentle hug from her sweet friend.”
