Although men can be more vocal when it comes to moaning about their thinning hair, they aren’t the only ones who have to deal with their locks betraying them over time. In fact, one could argue that women feel even more shame when they notice their strands falling out more frequently as they age — which is exactly why they don’t talk about it as much. Luckily, there’s a budget-friendly vitamin that hundreds of rave reviews are claiming can help solve that embarrassing issue: Vitafusion Hair Skin & Nails Supplement Gummies ($11.89, Target).
According to the product’s description, chewing on three of these gummies each day will provide you with “more than 16000 percent” of the daily value of biotin. As you may already know, biotin (which is part of the vitamin B family) plays a key role in promoting not only hair growth, but also healthy skin and nails. Obviously, the amount found in these gummies seems super appealing for those struggling with frustrating hair loss. The product description continues to say that it’s a “specially formulated fusion of 11 essential nutrients to help you achieve beauty from the inside out.” Aside from biotin, there’s also hefty amounts of vitamins C and E.
You might be thinking, “I’ve tried hair, skin, and nail vitamins before that promised the same and nothing happened.” We hear you — and we’ve been there, too. However, the praise for this particular vitamin is pretty darn convincing. “I’ve been using this product since November 7, 2016,” one reviewer writes. “It truly does work. I noticed my hair started growing/filling in thin areas around the edges and on the sides.” Another happy customer describes the taste as “not too sweet” and encourages others to try for themselves. Yet another reviewer claims to have seen positive results after just one month: “My thinning hair has lots of new growth, my nails are stronger, and my skin feels better.”
After digging through quite a few of these glowing testimonials, we did find a few folks who mentioned one unfortunate drawback for anyone on a ketogenic or low-carb diet: There’s quite a bit of sugar and carbs in each gummy. The label lists the serving size as three gummies, which contains a combined amount of seven grams of carbs and six grams of sugar. That might not seem like a lot to some people, but it can take a big chunk out of allowances for certain diets. If that’s not an issue for you, it’s still a good idea to talk about it with your doctor before adding the vitamins to your daily routine.
