9. Special Agent Oso (2009-2012): Sean Astin movies and TV shows

Astin voiced Special Agent Oso for two seasons. Oso was a cartoon bear who worked for the United Network for Investigating Quite Usual Events (UNIQUE). His “missions” took him all around the world, and on them, he taught kids how to do everyday tasks like cleaning their rooms or how to mail a letter.

8. The Lord of The Rings: Two Towers (2002) 

In the second Lord of the Rings film, Astin reprises his role of Samwise “Sam” Gamgee. But this time, his character — along with Frodo (Elijah Wood) — is being followed by the mysterious Gollum (Andy Serkis) on their deadly and dangerous quest to destroy the One Ring. Filled with twists and turns, this sequel is one epic ride.

7. Click (2006): Sean Astin movies and TV shows

Astin teams up with Adam SandlerKate Beckinsale and Christopher Walken in this heartwarming film filled with magically-tinged realism and a thought-provoking storyline. After receiving a magical remote that controls time, workaholic Michael Newman (Sandler) uses it to skip past all of the boring parts of his life until he learns the remote controls not only time, but also his personal life.

6. The Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring  (2001) 

In the first film, based on the bestselling J.R.R. Tolkien book series, Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) begins his task of destroying the One Ring in the fires of Mount Doom. But he will need the help of Samwise “Sam” Gamgee (Astin) to do so. This film won four Oscars.

5. Rudy (1993): Sean Astin movies and TV shows

All Rudy Ruettiger (Astin) wants to do is play football at Notre Dame, but he lacks the money and the grades to do so. He nonetheless is determined to make it, working at the steel mill and studying hard to overcome his dyslexia to achieve that goal. This film is based on a true story, and Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn also appear.

4. 50 First Dates (2004) 

Astin teams up with Adam SandlerDrew Barrymore and Rob Schneider in this hilarious romantic comedy. Lucy Whitmore (Barrymore) has a problem: she suffers from short-term memory loss and is stuck living the same day over and over again. This doesn’t stop Henry Roth (Sandler) from trying to win over her heart. However, Doug Whitmore (Sean Astin), Lucy’s older brother who will do anything to protect her, may have something to say about that.

3. Stranger Things (2017): Sean Astin movies and TV shows.

Astin might have only been in season 2 (and one episode of season 3) of Stranger Things, but his character, Bob Newby, was unforgettable. Bob was Joyce Byers’ boyfriend (Winona Ryder), working at Radioshack and dreaming of becoming “Bob Newby Superhero.” 

When asked about his time on the show, Astin said, “It was very clear prepping Bob Newby that it was tailor-made for me.” 

He also spoke very highly of Winona Ryder, saying, “Whenever we were on set together, there was just this warm, good, positive enjoyment of being around each other. And I think it comes through on-screen, too.”

2.The Lord of The Rings: The Return of The King (2003) 

In the epic finale, Sam (Astin) and Frodo (Elijah Wood) finally reach Mordor and begin the hardest part of their quest: destroying the One Ring. But will it actually help them win the battle and protect the people of Middle Earth? Only time will tell. This film won 11 Oscars (including Best Picture) and earned Astin a Critics Choice Award.

1.The Goonies (1985): Sean Astin movies and TV shows

Of course, we had to put The Goonies at No. 1. In this epic film, a group of kids team up after finding an old pirate map in the hopes that it will lead them to an unthinkable amount of treasure. Astin plays Mikey, the group’s leader. The film was directed by Richard Donner and written by Chris Columbus. Josh BrolinKe Huy QuanMartha Plimpton and many others appear.
