This ‘Lazy’ Cannoli Dip Recipe Will Be the Star of Your Holiday Party

Cannoli fans, this one's for you.

My golden rule for creating a holiday dessert spread: the more the merrier. I like serving a wide array of cookies and candy, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy — and while those treats are hard to beat, it’s also nice to make room for a wildcard dessert that guests aren’t expecting. Adding one more dish to the menu may sound tedious, but it doesn’t have to be. This “lazy” cannoli dip recipe takes less than 10 minutes to prepare and is guaranteed to impress your guests.

How To Make Cannoli Dip

If you’re a fan of cannolis but find that eating them can get messy, give this TikTok recipe from Social Sami (@SocialSami) a go. Using only five ingredients — including ricotta cheese and mini chocolate chips — she makes a dessert dip that tastes exactly like traditional cannoli filling. Since the dip isn’t being stuffed inside of a fried pastry shell, she serves it with small butter wafer cookies for dipping. The caption on her video promises it’ll be “your next dessert addiction,” and I’m inclined to agree, judging by how easy it is to prepare and how delicious it tastes.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 cup mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Butter waffle cookies or pizzelles (for serving)

Directions:

  • Prep: 10 mins
  • Total time: 10 mins
  • Yield: 6 to 8 servings
  1. In bowl, whip together ricotta, cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract using electric mixer until soft peaks form. Fold in chocolate chips. Refrigerate covered with plastic wrap until ready to eat.
  2. Serve dip in one large bowl (or individual portions to prevent double dipping) alongside butter waffle cookies or pizzelles on platter. Enjoy!

My Taste Test

Preparing this recipe was quick and simple. It came together in about six minutes. The dip’s sweetness contrasted nicely with the chocolate chips’ slightly bitter flavor, and whipping the ricotta and cream cheese gave it a fluffy and creamy texture. I served my dip with pizzelles for crunch. I love a dessert that’s low-effort but high reward — and this dip certainly fits the bill.
