Martha Stewart Has an Incredibly Simple Tip for Perfectly Grilled Meat

Martha Stewart may be known for her refined style, but that doesn’t mean her cooking techniques always require a ton of complicated finessing. In fact, the tip she gave us for the best tasting meat this grilling season couldn’t be easier.

“Basically, don’t burn your food,” she says. “Don’t char it, don’t blacken it.” OK, that might sound like common sense, but how many times have you bitten into a freshly grilled burger or piece of chicken that got a little too crispy on the outside? Stewart explains, “I think so many of us get a little too rushed [while grilling] and we try to get everything done at the same time.”

Instead, she reminds us to slow down when we’re grilling. Backyard cookouts should be more relaxed, not a marathon racing through various main and side dishes. “That’s what barbecuing is all about,” she says. “Careful preparation, maybe marinating first for delicious cuts of meat and poultry, and grilling them slowly until they’re just gorgeously and perfectly done.”

Stewart shared the advice with us while chatting about her latest partnership with her good friend Snoop Dogg. The pair have teamed up to design lines of BIC EZ Reach Lighters (Buy at Walmart, $3.92), which will go on sale at Walmart in July before hitting other retailers throughout the summer.

The lighters feature a longer extension between the flame and handle to avoid any painful singeing accidents. “I keep them in the house to light candles, fire pits, and the fireplace,” Stewart tells us. “They’re just a handy tool to have.”

Although she and the rapper (whom Stewart affectionately refers to simply as “Snoop”) worked together on this project, she says their designs will be very different and reflect their own personal styles.

Aside from prepping for the upcoming grilling season, Stewart also shared with us that she’s currently working on a new line of CBD skincare that should be released before the end of the year. “I think CBD is so good for your skin,” she says. “I don’t like to use the word ‘anti-aging,’ but we want our skin to be lovely and smooth, and that’s what our products will really help do.”

In the meantime, you can check out her line of CBD gummies, which she mentions makes for a great Mother’s Day gift! Stewart even has a deliciously calming sampler pack available for the holiday (Buy from Canopy, $64.99) that you can hint about to your family — or just treat yourself!
