Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Will Be Partners in Charity, Too

Tags:

We were thrilled when Meghan Markle and Prince Harry finally announced their engagement — and their commitment to be partners in love. And now, it sounds like this royally adorable pair will be partners in charity as well.

Meghan Markle’s dedication to charity work hasn’t gotten nearly the amount of attention it deserves, but her commitment to causes over the years is seriously impressive. She’s been a global ambassador for World Vision Canada, and she’s traveled to Rwanda to help the organization with its Clean Water Campaign. She’s also been named UN Women’s Advocate for Political Participation and Leadership, and she’s publicly supported the He for She campaign.

In fact, Meghan is so involved with charity that it’s been reported that her humanitarian work was actually what led her her to Prince Harry. Reportedly, the pair first met at a charity event in Toronto. And according to Meghan, philanthropy was one of the major factors of why they clicked so quickly and why they’re such a perfect match.

“It was really one of the first things we connected on. One of the first things we started talking about when we met was just the different things that we wanted to do in the world and how passionate we were about seeing change,” Meghan said during the pair’s first joint interview with BBC. “I think that was, that’s what got date two in the books, probably.”

And now that the two will be hitched, it looks like Meghan will be able to do even more charity work — and she couldn’t be more excited about it, despite the fact that she will be letting her career as an actress go.

“I think what’s been really exciting as we talk about the transition of this out of my career but into the role is that the causes that have been really important to me, I can focus even more energy on,” she said. “Very early out of the gate, I think you realize once you have access or a voice that people are going to listen to, with that comes a lot of responsibility, which I take seriously.”

This does involve letting go of the international organizations she’s been involved with in the past, but she says ready to get her “boots on the ground” in her new country.

“I’m excited to just really get to know more about the different communities here, the smaller organizations,” she said. “We’re working on the same causes I’ve always been passionate about under this umbrella.”

Once Meghan Markle and Prince Harry actually marry in 2018, she’ll also become the fourth patron of the charitable organization The Royal Foundation alongside Prince Harry, Prince William, and Kate Middleton — quite an illustrious group if we do say so ourselves.

We can’t wait to see what kind of charity work she gets involved with next!
