Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond Shares How She Dropped 38 Pounds: ‘No Gimmicks!’

Tags:

Like many folks in the food industry, Ree Drummond knows that being surrounded by yummy dishes all the time can also mean packing on a few extra pounds now and then. After noticing how it “crept up” on her through the years (and especially during the recent pandemic lockdowns), the Pioneer Woman shared how she shed 38 pounds — without any fad diets or tricks.

“Starting in January, I decided to get busy and lose some weight,” Drummond explains in the short clip below. “No gimmicks at all, I just cut calories, exercised more, and lifted a lot of weights. I look better, but I feel so much better, and that’s what really counts.”

Drummond points out in the video that she ate more protein, built muscle in her arms, butt, and legs, and basically just moved around more and sat less. She also added in the caption, “I still love fries, though.”

Take a look to see her impressive before and after:

Moving more and building muscle has been the key for me! 💪 I still love fries, though. #fyp

We love that Drummond, who recently launched a new line of bakeware at Walmart, is so refreshingly open about the whole thing. And, of course, she says she’s “still a goofball” — just one with “a lot more energy!”

Fans might remember that she was similarly frank about weight loss back in 2018, but for a much less fun reason. At the time, Drummonds image was being used without her permission to endorse diet pills.

“Please don’t buy ANY weight loss product using my name! I have never endorsed any diet or weight loss pills, and I never will,” she wrote on Facebook. “Here’s the straight skinny: I am a regular gal who loves food and whose jeans periodically get too tight. Right now I am losing weight and my jeans are fitting better, but it’s because I am eating fewer carbs and walking/sweating with my dogs every night.”

There’s no denying she’s stuck by those words today and proves that even small, simple changes can make a big difference! No gimmicks necessary.
