The Adorable Way the Young Royals Will Spend Christmas This Year

Tags:

When it comes to Christmas, the royals don’t do things by halves. Amongst the black-tie dinners, decadant breakfasts, and church services galore, it’s a wonder the royals even have time to open presents.

And while many of the adult royals might look at the festive season as a rather exhausting occasion, we can’t forget the little ones who undoubtedly see Christmas as a magical time full of novelty gifts and treats-a-plenty.

And lucky for us, we get to see what the young royal tykes get up to from the comfort of our own tinsel-clad homes!

Christmas with the Cambridges

With three kids below the age of 10, December 25 is undoubtedly special for Kate Middleton and Prince William’s family.

We can fully expect that Prince George, six, Princess Charlotte, four and Prince Louis, one will all be very excited at the prospect of a visit from Santa.

The wider British royal family usually have a jam-packed schedule of socializing when it comes to the big day. This includes a dinner at Sandringham, Norfolk on Christmas Eve, while Christmas morning starts with a full English breakfast.

Next comes a Church service before a 50-minute lunch. The family will then gather around the TV to watch the queen’s pre-recorded Christmas message at 3 p.m. on the dot.

But don’t let the hectic schedule fool you — there’s still plenty of fun for the kids in between the engagements.

Instead of opening their presents on the aforementioned busy Christmas day, the royal tykes will be allowed to rip open the wrapping paper on Christmas Eve.

This tradition is thanks to their German heritage. As per German tradition — and many European cultures — families open their presents on December 24 and it seems this habit has stuck for the British royals.

What’s more, we might be treated to some rather special pictures of the kiddies in the lead up to the big day.

In 2015, Kate and Will released a gorgeous image of young Prince George who was aged two at the time. The official shots showed the sweet little royal in a courtyard at his home in Kensington Palace.

We’re personally hoping for a new shot of their gorgeous young family this year!
