Are you someone who is highly organized, calm under pressure, and possesses great communication skills? Then you just might have what it takes to be Queen Elizabeth’s newest personal assistant.
The Royal Household recently posted a listing for two assistant roles (one permanent and one temporary) on their official website. According to the description, whoever gets these jobs will support members of the royal family as they attend to their official duties. The posting lists the qualities they’re looking for in potential candidates as someone who “take[s] pride in delivering work to the highest standards,” has “superb interpersonal and communication skills,” and can “quickly become a trusted and indispensable member of the team.” No pressure there!
As for actual tasks, you might assume Elizabeth’s assistant would be in charge of picking up her brightly colored outfits from the dry cleaner or taking her beloved corgis for a walk. What do you think the Queen’s Starbucks order is? We certainly wouldn’t mind hopping around London or hanging out with her snuggly pups, but that doesn’t seem to be a priority for this particular gig.
These assistants will need to be able to draft presentations, correspondences, and reports on behalf of the royal family. They will also be in charge of “diary management” — which is just a British way of saying they will help sort out their schedules. Although they’ll be working with a Senior Manager to make all of this happen, they will also need to be able to complete all of their duties with “minimal direction.”
Now, you might be wondering how much money a person with such an important job might earn. Unlike the previous opening for a royal gardener which listed a specific small amount of cash, this one simply states it will be a “competitive salary and benefits package.” We hope whoever gets these offers are good at negotiating!
