Acts of Kindness: These 3 Stories From Our Readers Will Melt Your Heart

Need a little pick-me-up? Check out these heartwarming stories about acts of kindness. Our readers share little reminders of how much goodness there is in the world.

‘It’s like being wrapped in a hug!’

“Several years ago, I was gifted with a fleece throw, and to my delight, I found wrapping myself in it felt like a hug. So, when two co-workers suffered the loss of loved ones and were struggling with their grief, I got the idea to gift each of them with a cozy fleece throw. They both told me the blankets helped bring them some comfort. I was so happy to have been able to help. Now, I gift throws to anyone I meet who seems to need the warmth and comfort of a hug. Each recipient is always deeply grateful. It feels great to bring the kindness once shown to me full circle!”

‘The gesture warmed my hands, and my heart!’

“I work as a crossing guard for a local grammar school. I’m out working whether there is sunshine, rain, or snow. Last week, it was incredibly cold and windy outside, and I found it difficult to stay warm despite the many layers of clothing I was wearing. I was bouncing around on my corner, trying to stay warm and distract myself from the frigid temperature. Suddenly, one of my very kind students came up to me and gave me some hand warmers. I was incredibly grateful! This small gesture not only warmed my hands but my heart, too.”

— Margaret Beyer, Evergreen Park, IL

‘They made our day easier.’

“I had been driving around the grocery store parking lot, searching for a handicapped space, when my husband, who uses a cane, spotted a space in the next row. I was about to pull in when I saw several grocery carts blocking the space. Before I could even get out of my car to move them, a couple on their way into the store noticed what was happening, turned around, rounded up the carts and took them back to the store. My husband and I were touched by their kindness. That simple act really lifted our spirits and made our day much easier. There are nice people in the world!
