College Student Was Annoyed by Crying Baby in Library. Then, Dad Gives Brutally Honest Explanation That Silences the Woman

College student Kandii Gabrielle was trying to study at the library when she kept getting distracted by the sound of a crying baby. A dad was holding his newborn, who would not stop bawling.
At first, Kandii was irritated. After all, she had a lot of work to do and the background noise wasn’t helping. But then, she got an idea. She went over to the man and asked if she could hold the baby.
In a viral Love What Matters post, she said that the man smiled at her suggestion with tears in his eyes as he handed the baby over. Then, he made a shocking confession.
Kandii wrote, “He told me that his wife died during childbirth a few weeks ago, he hasn’t slept for a few nights.”
The pair then sat and talked as Kandii gently rocked the baby to sleep. The man graciously thanked her for giving him that moment of peace.

Kandii, struck by the experience, took away an important lesson that day–more important than anything in a college textbook.
“We never know what is going on in someone else’s life, their struggles or their battles,” she wrote. “But one small act of compassion can have the largest impact.”
