How to Donate Gently-Used Makeup to Women in Need

Tags:

If you’re looking for an easy way to help women in need, Project Beauty Share is a great place to start. This charitable organization collects certain types of gently-used cosmetics — along with other health and beauty products — and then distributes them through non-profit organizations to serve women in need.

Project Beauty Share, which is based in Spokane, Washington, has a mission to help provide makeup and hygiene products to women who are struggling to maintain a sense of dignity and stability in their lives. Some of these ladies are currently homeless, while others are overcoming abuse or addiction. Regardless of each individual’s situation, all of these women could use a helping hand when it comes to improving their overall lives.

If you happen to live in or near Spokane, you have the chance to volunteer for the organization or donate products in person if you want. But even if you live nowhere near Washington state, you can still ship gently-used beauty products to the organization. But before you donate, it’s imperative that you look at Beauty Share’s full list of accepted items. While the organization is happy to accept some barely-used makeup like pressed eye shadows and squeeze-tube foundations, they cannot accept any previously-used mascaras or lipsticks. Any donations that come in a tub or a pot must be totally unused.

After you’ve gathered appropriate products that fit the description of what Project Beauty Share is looking for, all you have to do is package the items for shipping through USPS, UPS, or FedEx. Here’s the address to send your items to: 2718 E. Sprague Spokane, WA 99202.

It goes without saying that donating food and water are the most basic and important ways you can help people in poverty. However, many of us women know the simple power that using quality makeup and hygiene products can have on our self-esteem. If anyone could use an extra confidence boost while getting back on their feet, it’s women who have limited access to beauty products on a regular basis.

We all have that one stray eyeliner lying around that we only used once. Or maybe a fragrance that a (well-meaning) friend gave to us, but isn’t our favorite scent. If we’re not using it, then surely someone else can, right? You never know — that small gesture could make a big difference in a woman’s life someday!
