How to Get Paid for Sharing Your Strong Opinions on Just About Everything

Have you ever been called out for having a strong opinion? There’s no need to be ashamed or feel accused of being judgmental — you just happen to know what’s right and aren’t afraid to let everyone else know it! As it turns out, there’s a way for you to channel your feelings about everything into a money-making hobby: Filling out online surveys with your honest thoughts on different subject matters.

Now, you may have seen ads promising cash rewards for your opinions on surveys, but how can you tell which ones are actually trustworthy? For starters, avoid any survey site that asks you to pay a fee before joining, requests your credit card or social security number, or makes the outlandish promise of helping you earn thousands of dollars for a few questionnaires a month.

Luckily, all of the options you’ll find listed below have been vetted by experts like the advisors at NerdWallet, so they’re actually worth giving a shot. Before you start, though, you should still install some anti-malware software on your computer to be safe. A lot of the survey sites link you out to a third-party source, so you can’t be too careful. It’s also a good idea to set up an email account separate from the one you use on a regular basis. Survey offers have a habit of clogging up your inbox with multiple emails a day.

The questionnaires can range across a variety of interests, with surveys about popular brands, potential new products and services, and even upcoming movies that are just waiting for you to tell them the cold hard truth about what works — and what really, really doesn’t. With all that in mind, take a look to see which online surveys you might like to sign up for to earn some easy money.

Swagbucks

This company offers payment in the form of gift cards for PayPal and retail outlets such as Amazon, Starbucks, and Target. As of NerdWallet’s review in 2017, there were over 500 options available for redeeming Swagbuck points. They also offer more than just surveys to earn those points — playing games, watching videos, and even shopping are also options.

Each point boils down to about one cent. Like the other websites on this list, you’ll have to qualify for each survey you take. Sometimes a survey needs a specific demographic that you might not fit, but Swagbucks offers up to five points a day for any failed attempts.

Opinion Outpost

Like Swagbucks, you may be disqualified for surveys from this company based on your personal information. For example, a survey might be looking only for participants who are 25- to 35-year-old males who play video games. However, instead of giving you a point for disqualified attempts, Opinion Outpost submits an entry in your name to win a $10,000 quarterly prize.

The points are also worth a bit more on this website: One point is roughly equal to 10 cents. You’re able to cash out once you reach 50 points (or $5), which are redeemed as Amazon gift cards sent to you in the mail. It usually only takes a few days for that card to arrive.

Survey Junkie

A bit of a mixture of the above options, Survey Junkie offers about one cent per point earned on a survey. They also have a cash-out threshold, but a much higher one than Opinion Outpost — 1,000 points or $10 before you can request it sent to you in the form of an Amazon gift card. This means it might take you a little longer to see any earnings, but it’s still a nice chunk of change when you do.

NerdWallet’s review also notes a clean, easy-to-follow dashboard filled with surveys that were interesting to complete and usually took less time than the company’s listed estimation.

Although chances are you won’t become a millionaire by filling out the surveys from these companies, you will still earn plenty of spending money. Plus, you might simply enjoy the process of letting others know your opinions on things. Who knows, maybe your input will make all the difference when it comes to creating the next big product trend.
