Can You Guess Who Is the Most Popular Royal?
The royal family is a bit like a boy band. No, not because they frequently participate in choreographed dance routines (at least, not that we know of…), but in the way we all have our favorite member. According to a new survey from England, however, one of the Windsor’s stands out far above the rest.
You might assume loyalty to Queen Elizabeth would have pushed her to the front of the list, but the results shared by the Daily Mirror put Kate Middleton in the number one spot for most popular royal. The survey included more than 4,000 people with Kate outshining her grandmother-in-law, who took second place, by more than 500 votes. That’s a pretty significant lead!
Here’s how the top 10 rankings looked for the rest of the fam:

- Queen Elizabeth
- Prince William
- Prince Harry
- Princess Anne
- Meghan Markle
- Zara Tindall
- Sophie Wessex
- Prince Charles
- Duchess Camilla
Apparently, if popularity contests had any say, the British line to the throne would look a lot different! Although Charles might be the actual heir after his mother, he’s almost all the way down in the last slot, followed by his wife. It’s also interesting that his dad, Prince Philip, doesn’t even make it on the list. The youngest royals — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, Archie, and their cousins — are also missing, but were likely not included as options because their adorableness alone would steal the spotlight from their parents, grandparents, and great-grandma.
On the other hand, it’s nice to see a few of Elizabeth’s sometimes overlooked family members listed, including Charles’ sister Princess Anne, her daughter Zara Tindall (who doesn’t hold a royal title), and Sophie Wessex (wife of the queen’s youngest son, Prince Edward).
And, of course, we can’t say we’re too surprised that Kate is the overall favorite royal family member. She’s always had a kind, graceful nature, which has especially been on display during the pandemic and her support for causes close to her heart. A recent example is her post-lockdown visit to The Nook, a garden she helped create at East Angelia’s Children’s Hospice in Norwich, England. Along with her glowing smile, we can also usually count on her to spill some sweet stories about her little ones!
As much as we love Elizabeth and the whole family, we really can’t say we disagree with Kate taking the top spot.
