Prince Charles Releases a Rare Home Video From Isolation After His Coronavirus Diagnosis

Tags:

Prince Charles has been seen for the first time since his worrying coronavirus diagnosis, sharing video from his home in isolation where he discusses his experience with the illness.

The Prince of Wales tested positive for the virus in late March — just a couple of days after another royal, Prince Albert of Monaco also tested positive.

The diagnosis was met with alarm by many royal watchers — Charles is 71-years-old, and as the stats have shown, the illness is known to hit those in the older age bracket hardest.

Luckily, it seems Charles has now made a full recovery after the Palace confirmed on Monday that he was now out of self-isolation.

“Clarence House has confirmed today that, having consulted with his doctor, the Prince of Wales is now out of self-isolation,” a statement from the Prince’s staffers read.

And to reassure us even further, the Prince has now shared a rare video from his Scottish home, Birkhall, where he opens up about his experience with the illness, as well as how important it is to care for the elderly at this time.

Charles explains in the video that he was lucky to have only suffered mild symptoms, but that the crisis is a “strange, frustrating experience.”

“Having recently gone through the process of contracting this coronavirus, luckily with relatively mild symptoms, I now find myself on the other side of the illness but still in no less a state of social distance and general isolation,’ he explained.

He continued: “As patron of Age UK, and my wife as patron of Silver Line, our hearts go out to all those older people throughout this country who are now experiencing great difficulty.”

The Prince’s words clearly resonated.

In the video posted to Instagram, many took to the comments section to sing the future King’s praises for being so open about his experience.

“A message of honesty, reassurance and solidarity. Much needed during these difficult times,” wrote one.

Another mused: “What a wonderful message by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales. His words are so comforting for a Nation at war with this dreaded virus.”

Meanwhile, even the royal family themselves rallied support for the Prince, with Duchess Catherine and Prince William also sharing the Prince’s video on their Instagram story.

The sweet gesture would likely have sent thousands of more people to watch the video, ensuring that his message was heard near and far.

We’re very glad the Prince has had a speedy recovery!
