Peach Fuzz-Inspired Beauty and Fashion Products

Color of the Year 2024: Peach Fuzz

Pantone’s color of the year for 2024 is 13-1023 Peach Fuzz, a color that captures the “desire to nurture ourselves and others.” The gentle, warm peach tone is inviting, welcoming, and popping up across the board in products like makeup and fashion and even home decor and lifestyle products.

“In seeking a hue that echoes our innate yearning for closeness and connection, we chose a color radiant with warmth and modern elegance,” Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute™ says. “A shade that resonates with compassion, offers a tactile embrace, and effortlessly bridges the youthful with the timeless.”

Why Peach Fuzz?

Peach Fuzz was selected as the 2024 Color of the Year because, as Pantone describes, it highlights our desire for togetherness. After the 2020 Pandemic, the world could use more feelings of kindness, tenderness, caring, and sharing — all emotions the color of the year celebrates!

According to Pantone, Peach Fuzz, is meant to invoke feelings of comfort and “peace from within” that impact our wellbeing for the better. “An idea as much as a feeling, PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz awakens our senses to the comforting presence of tactility and cocooned warmth,” the color experts say. In these times of growth and rebuilding, Peach Fuzz reminds us that “a vital part of living a full life is having the good health, stamina, and strength to enjoy it.”

How does Pantone select their Color of the Year?

The Pantone Color Institute first introduced the Color of the Year in 1999 as a way to engage the design community. In doing so, the color connoisseurs were able to draw attention to the relationship between color and culture.

But who gets to decide what becomes the Color of the Year? That job falls on Pantone’s team of global color experts at the Pantone Color Institute, who search the world looking for new color influences.

“This can include the entertainment industry and films in production, traveling art collections and new artists, fashion, all areas of design, aspirational travel destinations, new lifestyles, playstyles, or enjoyable escapes, as well as socio-economic conditions,” Laurie Pressman, Vice President, Pantone Color Institute™, says of the process. “Influences may also stem from new technologies, materials, textures, and effects that impact color, relevant social media platforms, and even upcoming sporting events that capture worldwide attention.”

Through careful consideration, trend analysis, and forecasting, Pressman says the team determines the Color of the Year in “a very pure way.” Many a conversation take place among “color-attuned people” with varying backgrounds.

The name of the color also impacts the Color of the Year selection process (much like it does my nail polish selection).

Sometimes, the Color of the Year is two colors, which was the case in 2021. Other times, the color doesn’t exist and Pantone has to create the Color of the Year, as was the case in 2022 with Very Peri (Pantone 17-3928).

Regardless, the Color of the Year is one Pantone sees reflected across multiple facets of design. It’s a color that expresses the moods and attitudes of consumers; a color that reflects human nature; a color that represents “what’s happening in the zeitgeist at a macro level.”
