What are the new striped Trader Joe’s mini totes?

Trader Joe’s mini totes have long been a viral hit, and now there’s a new design joining the lineup: stripes! The playful pattern is a popular design choice for summertime bags, so this seasonal find is sure to be a hit.

The classic canvas bags come in four new muted hues—green, pink, blue and brown—but are otherwise similar to the spring pastel collection in size and price. Each $2.99 tote measures 13 inches by 11 inches by 6 inches, making them perfect for small essentials during your next shopping trip. Plus, there are additional pockets to allow for even more storage!

Why TikTok shoppers are completely torn over the new summer bags

Back in April, a TikTok user posted a video teasing the new totes, and the sneak peek quickly went viral. Shoppers from around the country jumped right into the comment section to weigh in on the latest variation of the iconic bags—and people were torn.

I don’t need any more, but the green one is sooooo cute!” shared one fan.

Other shoppers were far less impressed and had feedback on the color and pattern. One said that bold and bright stripes would have been better for summer, and another felt that a gingham design would be especially appealing. Many people also expressed their dissatisfaction with the size, adding they would rather see Trader Joe’s release large or extra-large totes instead of mini bags.

The most common complaint shared on TikTok? Concerns about inventory!

“I definitely won’t be able to get those,” commented one disappointed shopper. “I can already tell those lines are gonna be long and [the bags are] always sold out.”

Shoppers who have been eagerly waiting for the totes will be pleased to hear that the wait is almost over! Trader Joe’s revealed in a press release that the striped bags will be available in stores nationwide starting Wednesday, June 17.

But customers will likely snatch up these bags fast, which can make it tough for everyone who wants one! (This is one of the main reasons some stores will set limits on how many you can buy.)

For your best chance of success, follow this tip a Reddit user shared during the release of the spring pastel bags.

“[Getting there] half hour before opening seems to be the sweet spot to be able to guarantee a bag or two, though I lined up 45 minutes before opening yesterday and was about 8th in line,” they wrote.

So head to your local Trader Joe’s early on June 17, and you could have a too-cute $2.99 bag to enjoy this summer!
