Join Layla Telehealth: Facts and Figures About Its Compounded Semaglutide Prescription

Telehealth provider Join Layla offers only affordable generic compounded semaglutide

Comments

Telehealth provider Layla (better known as Join Layla) offers just one medication: Prescription compounded semaglutide for weight loss. Unlike most other telemedicine brands, it has no option for either name-brand GLP-1 medications like Ozempic or Wegovy; or even compounded tirzepatide (generic for Zepbound or Mounjaro). What Layla does offer is a streamlined signup and approval process that does not require a blood test or accept insurance and a three-month starter membership program for $199/month, which is in line with other low-priced telemedicine brands we’ve researched. We think anything under $200/month is a good deal.

Layla’s membership plan includes everything

Layla aims to provide “convenient and reliable” access to GLP-1s. Each membership plan comes with a prescription, a personalized treatment plan, compounded semaglutide prescription to for eligible patients, free overnight shipping, and continuous support from a medical provider. If you don’t qualify for treatment you’ll receive a refund. Layla doesn’t accept insurance, but prices are fixed and low by industry standards.

Layla only offers compounded semaglutide

Layla’s website markets weight loss “treatments” but only has compounded semaglutide. When Woman’s World reached out to the company, a representative told us they previously offered a compounded tirzepatide (like Mounjaro and Zepbound) and are currently working to get it back as an offering.

“We previously offered tirzepatide; however, since the FDA has lifted the shortage on this medication, our partner pharmacies can no longer compound it,” a rep from the company told us. “Currently, we only have compounded semaglutide available while we work on offering the branded tirzepatide medications soon, although we do not have a specific timeline for their availability.”

Enrollment is simple and does not require testing

You’ll start by taking a three minute quiz. This preliminary survey asks for basic contact information and a run-down of your health history. Then, you’ll connect with one of Layla’s qualified healthcare providers. If you qualify, you will receive a personalized treatment plan from Layla’s medical team. Patients who have already taken the medication can select their preferred dosage, which will be reviewed by a medical team. Once everything is approved, the medication will be delivered to your home, and you’ll have ongoing follow-ups with your provider. You can also contact customer care at any time.

While many people don’t like bloodwork, there are benefits

While some companies like Mochi or Noom Med require patients to get bloodwork or metabolic testing done, Layla doesn’t. This makes the prescription process quicker, though it could put your safety at risk if you wouldn’t otherwise be eligible for GLP-1s. However, it’s important to note that Layla is LegitScript certified, which means it has been professionally reviewed and protects patient safety, as well as following legal requirements for things like credit card transactions.

Layla patient care and support

For medical-related questions such as side effects, dosage or diet, you can ask speak with your provider directly at any time. Log in to your Layla account, and message your doctor regarding your prescription. For administrative questions (such as billing, shipping, etc.) there is a customer service email and an online messaging service. Layla aims to reply to any and all customer service-related matters within 24 hours, but we could not find a phone number for Layla, either for customer service or medical questions. You can only contact the company via email or messaging in your account portal.

Layla cost breakdown

Even though Layla accepts all major credit cards for payment, it does not accept insurance at this time. The company also does not allow customers to pay for their prescription or membership with an HSA, FSA, or IRA. That said, the cost for its compounded semaglutide medication is competitive, especially for the three-month program. Generic GLP-1 medications for weight loss are far more affordable than popular name brand drugs like Ozempic, Wegovy, or Zepbound.

Medication/plan Cost
Compounded semaglutide, monthly $297
Three-month starter program, monthly $199

Layla does not take insurance but its compounded semaglutide is relatively affordable. Regardless of your dosage, a month-to-month prescription costs $297. A “3 Month Starter Program” gives users a discounted rate of $199 (which is billed for three consecutive months), although we don’t think you can renew it at that rate. The cost for any program includes the medication, shipping, and clinician fees, and there aren’t any additional membership costs.
