If you’ve been holding off on joining a weight loss program because you’re apprehensive about the cost, you’ll be glad to know many offer deals, discounts and financial support. One of the most popular companies offering long-term weight loss solutions that you might be able to get at a discount is WeightWatchers (WW). We have all the information you need about WeightWatchers cost options to find out if it’s right for you.

What does WeightWatchers offer?

First, let’s go over some of WeightWatchers’ services and pricing:

Points Program

Perhaps the most recognizable aspect of a WW membership is points tracking, which lets users track calories and nutritional values with the goal of losing weight by sticking to a customized “budget.”

You can also access over 11,000 recipes, weight and activity trackers, a barcode scanner and restaurant search, members-only digital community and new updates from December 2024, including more than 350 ZeroPoint foods (items that are considered the healthiest and don’t need to be tracked) and the ability to track meals with a photo.

An additional recent development gives members access to personalized meal planning with a Registered Dietitian for an added fee (which could be covered by insurance—more on that later).

This package starts at $10 per month, and you can choose from durations including one, three or ten months.

Workshops

This next level WeightWatchers membership offers everything in the Points Program, as well as unlimited in-person and virtual workshops with other members. It also includes weekly behavior change techniques, tips to build healthy habits and weight-loss strategies from expert coaches.

Plans begin at $25 per month.

In addition to professional coaching and nutritional information, you can receive a personalized treatment plan, prescription weight-loss medications if you qualify and one-on-one guidance from a team including a WeightWatchers physician specializing in weight loss and a fitness coach.

Select plans start at $49 per month, and the FDA-approved prescription medications are subject to qualification. After the first month, membership continues for as low as $84 per month.

Note: This program includes the cost of non-GLP-1 medications, but the cost of GLP-1 medications is subject to insurance coverage. If your insurance company doesn’t cover the prescription, you can purchase it separately.

Does WeightWatchers take insurance?

WeightWatchers partners with hundreds of insurance plans nationwide to support members seeking weight loss medications or consultations with registered dietitians for personalized nutrition advice.

Some insurers may include WeightWatchers in wellness benefits, covering membership fees or offering partial reimbursements through HSA/FSA accounts, so check your plan details or speak with your employer’s HR department to confirm eligibility and coverage options.

WeightWatchers can also help facilitate reimbursement or assist members in navigating insurance claims.

For WW members seeking weight loss medications, WeightWatchers helps file insurance coverage requests. However, if coverage is not approved or medication access challenges arise, such as GLP-1 shortages, the company partners with a 503B outsourcing facility to provide compounded semaglutide for $129 per month.

WeightWatchers also periodically offers promotional pricing and special offers for new memberships, such as discounted plans, codes and free trial periods.

Healthcare workers, first responders and military personnel can join for as low as $15 per month. Additionally, you can invite a friend to WeightWatchers to get one free additional month when they join (and they’ll get three months free).

WeightWatchers also teams up with certain employers to provide employees with reduced membership rates or subsidies through corporate wellness programs. Ask your employer if they participate.
