‘All My Children’ Star Colin Egglesfield Opens Up About Prostate Cancer Journey: ‘You’re Not Alone’
The ‘Melrose Place’ actor reflects on his battle with prostate cancer and shares a hopeful message
Colin Egglesfield is opening up about his most recent cancer diagnosis. In an Instagram post, the 51-year-old actor, best known for his work on All My Children and Melrose Place, shared that not only was he diagnosed with cancer again, but he was undergoing treatment to remove it. We have all the details on Egglesfield’s health journey, including his most recent scare, below.
Colin Egglesfield’s 18-year battle with cancer
This is Egglesfield’s third cancer diagnosis, with the actor revealing to JeJune Magazine in 2019 that he was “diagnosed at 33” with testicular cancer.
“[I] had surgery, radiation treatment, then subsequent checkups every three months for a year, at which point they found another tumor, which required another surgery.”
“For five years after that second surgery, I had to go for constant checkups, which included chest X-rays, blood tests, and CT scans, to check for further tumor growths.”

Following those two operations in 2006 and 2007, Egglesfield was in remission and chose to keep his diagnosis out of the spotlight, telling Fox News that it just didn’t feel like “something that men normally like to talk about.”
“For the longest time, I didn’t want to talk about it because it’s something very personal.”
Then, in 2019, the actor began speaking out and raising awareness for the disease by volunteering at places like St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
“Every year, I participate in St. Jude Charity events such as the South Beach, Miami Triathlon, and various other St. Jude sponsored events around the country,” Egglesfield said.”I also have volunteered at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, where I would go room to room and read books and play games with kids receiving treatment for cancer.”

“When I was receiving my treatment, I quickly discovered how scary and uncertain it can be and how important it is to have someone nearby who can instill strength, courage and hope, which is what I hope to give these kids.”
As of publication, Egglesfield doesn’t have children but is a “funcle (That’s ‘fun uncle’ for anyone out of the loop!)” to his nieces and nephews.
Colin Egglesfield opens up about his latest diagnosis
On January 21, 2025, Egglesfield shared on Instagram that he had been diagnosed with cancer again.
“‘It’s not the hand that you’ve been dealt because you can’t change that. It’s how you play the cards that counts.’ I found this quote from an interview I did when I was 25, and it has served me well throughout my life, including recently,” he wrote.
“The beginning to this year hasn’t been the easiest, but in the spirit of what I said in my interview, this is another opportunity to decide who I choose to be in the face of uncertainty and challenges in my most recent cancer diagnosis.”
“Thankfully, we caught my prostate cancer early, and after a year of doing a lot of research and talking to quite a few healthcare professionals, I elected to be proactive and have surgery.”
This is the first time Egglesfield has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and the third time he has dealt with a cancer scare.
Following that announcement, the actor remained quite present on social media and even posted several videos thanking people for the love and support they have given him.
“I just want to say thanks again for all your outpouring of amazing support over the past few days,” Egglesfield said. “I’m back home. I was in the hospital for just a couple of days, had my surgery, and from what the doctor said, the surgery went really well.”
“I just want to say thanks so much to everyone who’s just shot me text messages, emails, phone calls, and all that good stuff. Really, it’s amazing how incredible we all can be when we all care.”
‘So grateful’ for the support

Despite his diagnosis, Egglesfield said that he is still “so grateful for the amazing support and care I’ve received over the past few months.”
“Hopefully, this is a reminder to everyone that you’re not alone with whatever you’re facing and that it’s important to advocate for yourself and your health, which includes checkups, seeking information, and asking for help when you need it!”
“And, fellas, be sure to get your PSA checked regularly. It saved my life!”
Egglesfield says he is “continuing [his] healing journey, which includes getting out into nature and being around some beautiful animals up at MacDonald ranch in Scottsdale, [Arizona].”
