I Tried ARMRA Colostrum, and It’s Broken My Coffee Addiction in Two Weeks
From gut health to better skin, ARMRA Colostrum is linked to a number of health benefits. Here's what happened when I tried it.
I’ve been a coffee drinker since I was a teenager. Like lots of people, I love the taste of the beverage, as well as the ritual of sitting down with a hot cup every morning. Unfortunately, I’ve become more reliant on it with time, which is one of the reasons I was interested in trying ARMRA Colostrum.
The superfood has been connected to a stronger metabolism and immune system, plus an increase in energy. If you’ve struggled through that four o’clock slump, then you know how intriguing a non-energy drink to put some pep in your step is.
Energy loss can be common part of aging. However, and fortunately, it doesn’t have to be. While things like lack of activity, and stress can lead to brain fog and fatigue, adopting lifestyle practices that support our body in repairing and optimally performing can make a huge difference in how we feel. This includes what we eat!
What is colostrum?
You’ve probably heard of colostrum, but aren’t sure of what it is. “Colostrum is the first milk that all mammals produce,” explains, Sarah Rahal, MD, double board-certified pediatric neurologist and Founder of ARMRA Colostrum.
“It’s the first milk that comes out when you’re lactating after delivery… It’s the first nutrition all of us receive in life [and] contains all the essential nutrients our bodies need to thrive.”
You ask, what essential nutrients? Oh, just:
- Vitamins
- Micronutrients
- Antibodies
- Prebioitcs
- Growth factors
- Peptides
- Regenerative bioactive compounds
If you’re interested in healthy skin, the regenerative bioactive compounds should specifically peak your interest. Remember, the skin is the body’s largest organ, responsible for protecting against infection and trauma from chemicals, and UV radiation.
Dr. Rahal, who has a background in functional medicine and environmental health, explains further.
“They act like a blue print — almost like your body’s source code — and optimize all the pathways very early in life… The interesting thing is that the most profound way [these compounds] work in the body is that they seal up what is called the immune barrier.”
If you’re unfamiliar, the immune barrier is like an internal skin. It serves as the interface between everything we ingest from the environment and our blood stream. Chemicals, pollutants, and toxins hit this barrier, making it more permeable than it’s meant to be. This allows foreign agents to get into the body, triggering inappropriate immune responses. This leads to inflammation.
“Inflammation is what underpins almost every modern disease that we know of,” says Dr. Rahal.
Chronic inflammation is not only associated with chronic diseases, such as heart disease, arthritis, and allergies, but things like:
- Brain fog
- Weight gain
- Acne
- Rashes
- Hair loss
- Feeling burned out
- Bloating and digestive issues
“What colostrum does is that it intervenes at the body’s first line of defense; at that very foundational pathway, seals up the immune barrier like glue, and protects you from the modern exposures.”
There are numerous research papers indicating that colostrum isn’t only beneficial for babies but people of all ages, even when it’s bovine-based. A 2021 study in Nutrients showed that bovine colostrum not only limits inflammatory responses, but aids the gut, boosts immune function, and even repairs skin.
What makes ARMRA Colostrum different from other colostrum?
You may have seen colostrum from other manufacturers before, but they’re not like the colostrum ARMRA produces. Like any product, the processing mandated by the FDA renders the bioactive compounds obsolete.
To combat this, Dr. Rahal spent two years developing ARMRA. It’s pasteurized and sterilized without the use of high temperatures, mimicking a raw dairy product. This also allows compounds specific to cows to be removed, leaving only bioactive compounds which match the human body.
What does ARMRA Colostrum do for you?
Before I had a chance to review ARMRA Colostrum, I was already planning on purchasing it. It wasn’t just the impressive before and afters on my social feeds that made me think, I need to try this! It was all the things the superfood could potentially improve. I’m talking:
- Strengthening the gut
- Igniting the metabolism
- Promoting sports performance and recovery
- Supporting healthier hair growth
- Boosting skin health and radiance
Truthfully, it was the last two points that got me — you guys know I need to try anything that helps my skin and hair!
ARMRA Colostrum has antioxidants, growth factors, regenerative peptides, and vitamins that naturally activate collagen production. Its bioactives can also support the hair microbiome. You can read more about the health applications here and here.
In a third-party clinical trial with participants ages 18 to 65, 80 percent saw an improvement in lean muscle mass, strength, and endurance. Eighty-six percent reported less bloating, 60 percent saw improved energy and focus, and almost 80 percent experienced thicker hair growth. Impressive, right?

Does ARMRA Colostrum have estrogen?
I love this question, especially because I’ve asked it myself.
I had 22 fibroids removed last year via myomectomy, so the last thing I want is to introduce more estrogen into my system. Fortunately, ARMRA Colostrum doesn’t have any. Although sourced from cows, they’re grass-fed and not supplemented with hormones.
The brand’s colostrum is also casein-free and fat-free, the latter being extremely important, because fat, as Dr. Rahal explains it, is where estrogen, bio-identical hormones, toxins, and pesticides are stored.
For those looking for support through hormonal transitions, such as perimenopause and menopause, ARMRA Colostrum may help combat symptoms.
“This is incredibly powerful as an adjunct tool, particularly because it has a stabilizing effect on hormones,” she says. “It has a lot of adaptogenic properties, specifically along those lines. For both men and women, you’re supporting testosterone levels; you’re supporting estrogen progesterone balance, and that clearly has benefits for egg health, fertility, and the mitochondrial function of sperm and egg when you’re talking about those reproductive needs as well.”
How long does ARMRA Colostrum take to work?
Dr. Rahal recommends that anyone wanting the full benefits of ARMRA Colostrum use it for 4 to 6 weeks. However, she’s noticed — and so have I — that many report experiencing positive changes much sooner.
You ask, What changes may those be? Oh, things like reduction in bloating, and a boost in energy. In fact, during our interview, she noted that some customers report not needing to reach for coffee as much to get through the day. Very interesting!
Only a teaspoon per day is needed, taken dry or mixed in a room temperature or cold liquid — never hot, because they destroys the bioactive compounds. Some customers report taking more, but I’ve stuck with the recommended dose (as you’ll see below), and experienced exciting results.
My Review of ARMRA Colostrum
So, we know I was interested in trying the superfood for my skin and hair. However, after learning it could help my energy levels, I was even more intrigued.
You can purchase ARMRA Colostrum in a bulk jar ($109.99), but I opted for it in the pre-portioned unflavored packets ($39.99).
As I already mentioned, I’ve been an avid coffee drinker for most of my life. In the last year, it’s become out.of.control! We’re talking a full pot before noon, another one in the late afternoon, and maybe another mug around 7PM. I know, terrible.
Every day I mixed ARMRA Colostrum into one of my protein shakes (you can see my favorite organic vegan protein powders here), and went about my business. Around day four, I noticed I didn’t want to make my afternoon pot of French Roast.
I mean, I thought about it. But when I went into the kitchen to get started, I found I wasn’t actually in the mood for it. Could it be ARMRA Colostrum?
A week in and I was still going strong — without the extra java. Most interestingly, I wasn’t yawning or dealing with caffeine headaches.
Week two: Same but better. Not only was I skipping my afternoon and evening fix, but I was only drinking a cup and a half (about 16 ounces) in the morning. This was such a big deal to me that I started texting my other caffeine fiend friends to tell them about it.
When my supply finished, I quickly reordered. I was and continue to be that impressed. Another thing? I think my skin and hair look better. Unfortunately, I didn’t document with pictures but when I saw my hair stylist, Liam, he kept commenting on how thick my hair had become since my last visit.
Granted, I have upped my protein game and have been making my mental health a priority. I don’t want to discount these lifestyle changes, because they make a huge difference. However, I think the ARMRA Colostrum has helped too. After all, I’m at the six week mark.
The thing that’s most important to understand about ARMRA Colostrum is that the bioactive compounds are designed to be fully absorbed by the body and help it do what it would if aging, stress, and inflammation weren’t factors. Again, it’s a food, not a supplement, and the body can use it to naturally produce collagen and regenerate hair follicles. More importantly, it can help you feel more physically resilient, because FYI, we’re not meant to feel tired and cruddy all the time.
Conclusion
So, do I recommend ARMRA Colostrum? Yes.
Personally, I love not being reliant on caffeine anymore. For one thing, it means I save money. More importantly, my energy level is more consistent.
I also love that my skin looks brighter and less tired. The lines on my forehead are fainter than before too, which is really crazy to me. I wish I took before and after photos, but had no idea I’d love the product so much. I even got my mother to order some for herself.
Other ARMRA customers have reported similar things that I’ve noted. Not so much the being free from the coffee part, but about seeing hair growth, improved skin, and better gut health. If any of these issues are putting a kink in your routine, I highly recommend giving ARMRA Colostrum a try.
Although I’m still taking my daily multi, I’ve decided not to bother rebuying things like collagen. In fact, I’ve even reduced the times I use some of my beauty devices per week since I’ve incorporated ARMRA it into my diet. Anyone who knows me knows that I’m very serious about using those, so that’s saying a lot! And beauty benefits aside, I really do love not dealing with the caffeine jitters anymore. That alone is worth the purchase for me.
