Dr. Dunkley’s educational background has served as the foundation for her professional endeavors. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Education from St. John’s University. The goal-getter also earned master’s degrees in Political Science and Education Leadership from the same institution and Columbia University. In addition, she pursued a doctorate in Urban Education with a concentration in Organization and Leadership from the latter’s Teachers College. Dr. Dunkley has also furthered her knowledge through gaining certifications in both executive coaching and intercultural competency.

Equipped with vast knowledge, she has held various influential leadership positions, including teacher, principal, deputy superintendent, and university lecturer. Now, as the principal and CEO of KND Consulting, LLC, Dr. Dunkley has become known for her ability to align strategic goals with the values of equity, access, diversity, inclusion, and excellence. Her work impacts organizations across diverse sectors, shaping cultures that embrace fairness and equal opportunity.

It’s worth highlighting that Dr. Dunkley’s accomplishments throughout 25 years as an innovator are extraordinary. During her tenure as principal of Parkway Center City High School in Philadelphia, she implemented a pioneering “middle college” program. This initiative allows high school students to graduate with an associate’s degree, making it the only program of its kind in the entire School District of Philadelphia. Her role as Deputy Chief Parent, Family, and Faith-Based Partnership for the School District of Philadelphia also demonstrates her forward-thinking mindset. Here, she spearheaded a program where over 30,000 parents participated in parent university to support their child’s educational success, significantly impacting the community.

Meanwhile, in her volunteer role as Jamaica Diaspora Northeast Representative USA on the Global Jamaica Diaspora Council, she organized efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic to secure $3.6 million in forgivable loans for 33 businesses, ensuring their survival and success. From January 2020 to December 2022, she helped advance the country’s national development goals in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Pondering her dedication to her mission, she dynamically states, “I’ve always had this desire to create a social impact. That’s why I focus on leadership. I believe in its critical role in fostering innovation in any sphere. This commitment to leading where my expertise lies is what drives me every morning.”

The leader’s contributions that left a lasting impact on individuals and communities have earned her numerous accolades. Among her many awards are the Tuskegee University Education Advocacy Award, Omega Psi Phi Educational Achievement Award, Opportunities Industrial Center Impact Award, the Team Jamaica Bickle Distinguished Achievement and Contribution to Education Award, and the Lindback Award for Distinguished Principal Leadership, 2015.

Dr. Dunkley, O.D. has also been honored with the St. Catherine High Distinguished Alumni Award, the Jamaica Nurses Group of New York Distinguished Trailblazer & International Service Award, and the OFANA Distinguished Community Service Award, among others. Her impressive list of accomplishments grew longer with her receivement of the national honor of the Order of Distinction, which the Government of Jamaica conferred upon her on August 6th, 2024. This attests to her groundbreaking contributions to leadership, education, community development, and diaspora engagement.

One can say that Dr. Dunkley’s achievements are thanks to her philosophy that education is transformative. She believes in the power of expectations to drive human ambition and change—a principle she has applied throughout her career. “My guiding principle is simple: We must be so excellent that we cannot be denied. Excellence is a gift and an urgent responsibility that I carry into everything I do.  I’ve always strived to embody and impart this spirit of excellence to others. It doesn’t matter if I was waiting tables to pay for school, where I became the top server, or in my professional roles,” she remarks.

Dr. Dunkley’s philosophy was shaped in large part by the influence of her parents. They taught her the importance of education from a young age. Coming from a Jamaican background, her parents emphasized that education was not dependent on socioeconomic status but on discipline and dedication. “I was taught that excuses were not an option and that one must take education seriously and apply oneself fully,” the vibrant professional shares. This upbringing formed her belief in the power of education and the importance of setting high expectations.
