These iconic actresses make up the more experienced teaching staff at Abbott Elementary, and while on-screen they’re a duo we love to watch, off-screen, they’re as close as can be. We always are handing each other our phones going, ‘Look at that dress.’ Or she’s like, ‘Girl, look at this kitchen,’” Lisa Ann Walter told PEOPLE. “We’re always sharing, like you do with your work wife.” Talk about best friend goals!

Sheryl Lee Ralph and Quinta Brunson learn from one another

In Abbott Elementary, Quinta Brunson’s character of Janine craves the approval and a relationship with Sheryl Lee Ralph’s character of Barbara as she seeks her out to fill the void of a maternal figure in her life. Off-screen, their relationship is a little different, though just as special. “I think it’s a good one,” Sheryl Lee Ralph told Harper’s Bazaar of the relationship she and Brunson share. “I say this a lot to people: ‘My boss is 33 years old, and I love her, and she has actually taught me a thing or two.’” Adorable!

Chris Perfetti sees his castmates as family

Chris Perfetti plays the hilarious Jacob Hill, and when he’s not making us laugh on screen, he’s enjoying his time alongside his co-workers. “We are so blessed with the writing on this show, I would say there’s a real air of improvisation on the set of Abbot Elementary, but most of the time I feel like it’s just not needed,” Perfetti told PEOPLE. “Anything I would come up with in the moment is usually not as good as what they have written.”

Tyler James Williams cherishes his bond with Quinta Brunson

Tyler James Williams had long been on the acting scene, known for his work in shows like Everybody Hates Chris and The Walking Dead, but these days, he’s enjoying bringing to life the character of Gregory Eddie, thanks to his good friend and show creator, Quinta Brunson.

She pushes me, writing things that I’m afraid of or don’t know if I can pull off,” he told ELLE in 2023. “What I’ve learned is that working with friends, if done right, stretches you farther than anything else because they want to see you win.”
