Scrolling through TikTok, you may have found yourself exploring the hilarious page of husband and wife duo Alex and Jon. From their comedic timing to their ability to get vulnerable, the couple has taken the world of social media by storm.

Like many during the COVID-19 pandemic, Alex and Jon turned to social media as an outlet and their creativity began to flow. The duo made videos that soon turned into viral hits and led to where they are today: 2.7 million followers on TikTok and 3 million on Instagram.

This fall season, instead of purchasing every single one of the pumpkin-flavored products on store shelves, Alex Madison is working to save the pumpkins by partnering with Sonic as they launch the delicious Salted Caramel Toffee Iced Coffee—because pumpkins deserve a good life, too.

“As a pumpkin lover myself, I love this partnership with Sonic because I feel like there’s just been this craze in fall about all things pumpkin,” Madison shared. “But we need to broaden our horizons and realize that there are other flavors that could come forward during the fall season. So, we’re giving pumpkins a break, and we’re saving the pumpkins.”

If you want pumpkins to have their well-deserved break (or you just really love all things salted caramel), you might want to give the new coffee flavor a try! See their hilarious PSA here.

“With every coffee that you purchase, you’re saving a pumpkin because it’s no longer going to be consumed or turned into a candle or something like that,” she explained. “We can appreciate them, we can look at them, we can hug them, take pictures with them, but we don’t need to be carving them up, boiling them and putting them into wax holders.”

Alex Madison is preparing for motherhood

It’s not just the upcoming fall season that has Alex kicking into mother mode, but also the fact that she is about to become a first-time mother! The couple is just weeks away from welcoming their baby girl, so her love for all living things is a huge factor, too.

“She’s almost the size of a pumpkin, another reason I just feel so connected to these pumpkins,” Madison explained. “She’s coming in, like, two weeks, so it will be perfect for the fall season. We’ll go out, grab our Sonic iced coffee and then we will go appreciate the pumpkins from afar. That’s actually what I am really excited for… We’ve been very excited and anticipating it.”

If you follow Alex and Jon on social media, you may have seen some of their videos throughout her pregnancy, from hilarious skits to sweet ones like their gender reveal!

Why Alex and Jon stepped in front of the camera

Today, growing a fanbase can be a bit simpler with easy access to the world through social media and apps like TikTok. But before TikTok blew up in 2020, Alex and Jon were already involved in filmmaking and editing.

“Jon and I were wedding filmmakers [pre-pandemic], so we had a production company, but we were behind the camera, as opposed to in front of it,” Madison explained. “And then when the pandemic hit, all of our weddings and projects got postponed. Because we were always involved in the editing and film world, it just felt like a seamless transition.”

But becoming “TikTok famous” isn’t always as easy as it looks. Alex and Jon didn’t exactly have instant success, but what they did have was determination and the drive to put in the hard work.

“Of course, we tried a lot of things that didn’t work, and then we tried some things that ultimately did, and we just kept doing those on the app [TikTok],” she said. “And then over time, it just snowballed into what it is today.”

Alex and Jon’s decision to open up online

When it comes to social media, being an open book can be a tricky process, especially when you feel like you might be the only person in the world going through something. But the special thing about TikTok and other platforms is that they give you a voice and allow you to connect with others who have experienced similar things.

We’re reaching people during some of their darkest moments and showing them that the healing process is not linear

When Alex and Jon experienced a pregnancy loss in 2024, the couple decided to share their grief journey online. While it was scary to put everything out into the world, whether in a comedic tone or a more serious one, Madison shared that it’s helped them to heal.

“We’ve connected with so many people who have experienced the same things [as us]. We’re reaching people during some of their darkest moments and showing them that the healing process is not linear,” Madison shared. “It’s not going to look the same for everyone. Even between both Jon and I, what we experience is going to be completely different from one another, but that’s normal.”

She added, “There is no right way to grieve and there is no wrong way to grieve. It’s your own journey. And kind of putting that out there in a way that feels authentic to us through a comedic lens has been so healing. But I think it’s also been healing for other people, to give them permission to heal in a way that feels right for them.”
