Sachs—is certainly the first of its kind.

At 3 p.m., Dolly made her way to the front of the travel stop, decked out in a glittery blue and pink outfit that sparkled in the Tennessee sunshine. The crowd erupted in cheers, fans waving and calling out to the country icon. “I wanted to welcome all of you and thank you for coming,” Dolly said to the audience with a megawatt smile.

“We are very excited about our truck stop—The Tennessean Travel Stop! I just love the fact that I’m working with Greg, who is such a wonderful guy,” she said. “Of course he’s had this place for a while and he said, ‘Why don’t we go into business together?’ and I told him it was a great idea because I spent my whole life traveling on the road.”

Dolly continued chatting to the crowd and then made a playful remark referencing another beloved travel stop—Buc-ee’s, which has a beaver as its mascot. “I’m sure some of you are wondering why I wanted a truck stop,” Dolly added with a wink. “Well, I couldn’t leave it to beavers! I had to throw my squirrelly little self in there. We’re not trying to compete with anyone though. We don’t think we’ll have to, we’ll have everything that you want and need. Thank you so much for coming—we’re going to cut the ribbon now!”

What sets Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stop apart is the heart and inspiration behind it. After decades of touring, Dolly knows firsthand what weary travelers need: clean facilities, fresh food, friendly faces and a moment of joy in the middle of a long trip.

“When I approached Dolly’s manager, Danny Nozell, and shared the idea, Dolly and her team loved it right away,” added Sachs. “Her years of life on the road gave her a real understanding of what was missing out there, and she saw the chance to turn ordinary travel stops into a place built on Tennessee hospitality, worth stopping for, not just stopping at. Pairing the history this landmark location has with Dolly’s spirit establishes a high benchmark for our future locations.”

Dolly also opened up about the inspiration and vision behind the truck stop. “Well, the doors are open and I could not be prouder. Whether you are hauling loads, hauling the family or just passing through, we built this place for you,” said Dolly. “Good food, real rest, a little music and people who are genuinely glad you stopped in…that’s what the road has always deserved, and that is what you will find here. Welcome home.”
