What is ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’ about?

Daniel Craig is back as Benoit Blanc, and this time around, the crime solver finds himself in upstate New York. When a murder takes place at a small church in the area, it’s up to Blanc and police chief Geraldine Scott to uncover who is behind the shocking killing. “Every single day on set with this ensemble, I would blink and be astounded that we talked these people into showing up,” director Rian Johnson told Tudum. “The experience of making these movies and the chemistry between these incredible actors is the key to why we love doing them. Craig, known for his work in the previous Knives Out films, as well as his role as James Bond in films like No Time to Die (2021) and Skyfall (2012), reprises his role as Benoit Blanc. This time around, the detective is uncovering the truth in this case involving the church’s monsignor.

Josh O’Connor broke out into the mainstream when he starred opposite Zendaya in Challengers (2024), and in Knives Out 3, he has been cast as Father Jud Duplenticy, a young priest who is sent to assist the monsignor. A former boxer, he was reassigned after punching a fellow clergy member in the face.

Josh Brolin, known for films like No Country for Old Men (2007) and Sicario (2015), portrays Monsignor Jefferson Wicks, a charismatic leader with a crew of loyal followers who hang on to his every word.
